Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) has been left fearing her wedding may not even go ahead after an argument with Tom King (James Chase) in Emmerdale.

While the village residents see Tom and Belle as a happy and loved-up couple, we know there’s a dark and concerning underlying tone in this relationship, with Tom often displaying signs of controlling and abusive behaviour.

In Wednesday’s (February 14) episode of the ITV soap, it was the day before Tom and Belle’s wedding.

Lydia (Karen Blick) popped by to see Belle and revealed she had a present for her.

She pulled out a framed picture of Belle’s mum Lisa Dingle. She explained that although Lisa may not be here anymore, they can display the photograph at the wedding and reception so she can still attend in spirit.

Belle was incredibly moved by the gift but Tom? Not so much. After ushering Lydia out of the house, Tom was later seen at the cafe chatting to Jimmy (Nick Miles).

Tom higlighted the chaotic behaviour of the Dingles, and then started to make fun of their plan to bring the picture of Lisa to the wedding.

Tom insensitively said it was ‘weird’ which made Jimmy laugh. He called his nephew naïve and said ‘nobody escapes the clutches of the mother-in-law’.

Moments later, Belle popped by and received a call from her dad Zak (Steve Halliwell).

Zak, who is currently in Scotland, revealed he had hurt his back and therefore cannot attend the wedding, which left Belle gutted and wondering if she wanted to even go ahead with tomorrow.

Back at home, a wound-up Tom tried to tell Belle that she’s incredibly lucky to have her other family members attend the wedding, because all he’ll have is his uncle Jimmy.

Tom kept on pushing which made Belle seriously uncomfortable. Taking control of the matter entirely, Tom stormed out of the house, leaving Belle anxious.

At the Dingle home, as Lydia prepared dinner, Belle expressed her worry about tomorrow after being unable to get hold of Tom.

Lydia tried to reassure Belle and said that her wedding will be perfect.

She will put on her dress, head to the church, marry Tom and live happily ever after.

But if Belle’s family knew the real Tom King, they’d know a happy ending doesn’t exist where he is concerned.
