Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) has left the Emmerdale village after being responsible for Heath Hope’s (Sebastian Dowling) death.

At the start of the year, Angelica, Heath and Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) stole a car with the intention of getting to a New Year’s party. However, on the way, Angelica replaced Cathy as driver and ended up crashing into a wall, with the injuries being enough to kill Heath.

In the aftermath, a desperate Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Jimmy (Nick Miles) tried to prevent Angelica from facing time behind bars, but eventually accepted they didn’t have a choice but to prepare to say goodbye to their daughter.

In tonight’s episode of the ITV soap, it was Angelica’s final morning in the village. She had packed up her things and told little brother Carl to look after her teddy, not wanting the other teenagers to find her ‘soft’ in the children’s home.

Outside in the snow, Angelica bravely approached Bob (Tony Audenshaw) and handed him a letter. He didn’t react with anger, he just accepted the letter and walked away – a huge moment for him.

Later on, at the court, Nicola, Jimmy and Angelica prepared themselves for the sentencing.

As Angelica stood up, she listened as the Judge reminded her that not only was she responsible for a death by dangerous driving, she also stole a car and drove it without insurance and a licence – it wasn’t looking good.

Despite her guilty plea, the Judge felt there was no other option but to send Angelica to the secure children’s home for eight months.

Back at home, as word reached the villagers, Cathy, Wendy (Susan Cookson), Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) and Bob discussed the fact Angelica has been sent to a home all the way in Bristol, meaning travelling to see her will be difficult.

Meanwhile, as Jimmy and Nicola entered their very quiet house, Nicola found Angelica’s teddy.

She grabbed it and cried, a sign that the Angelica who will return to the village in eight months time is going to be completely different to the one who left.
