Emmerdale’s resident psychopath Tom King (James Chase) seems to be starting to crack.

The more his jealousy over Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) being close to Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) escalates, the more unhinged his actions become.

He tried to destroy their friendship by letting Vinny take the blame for the lost dog, when in reality, Tom had stolen the dog and hidden her.

That failed to fully destroy Belle and Vinny’s relationship, which led to Tom’s evil gathering pace at frightening speed.

The result was Tom cracking Vinny in the skull with a paperweight to cover up his stalking of his own wife. He cruelly left Vinny for dead. While the attack was impulsive, leaving Vinny bleeding was not.

But even that backfired as instead of Vinny dying, he survived for Belle to become his nurse – Tom’s worst nightmare.

Where that leaves things is that Vinny and Belle are stronger than ever and Tom’s jealousy is once again in overdrive. His grip on reality is ebbing away as he works to step up his plan to extricate Vinny from their lives.

In this new phase, he begins by deliberately belittling Vinny, but later switches tack and decides to cosy up to him instead.

Belle notices this and is confused at the change in his behaviour, well aware there must be an ulterior motive – it seems Belle is wizening up to her husband’s true personality.

Tom suddenly decides to become Vinny’s wingman and help him find a girlfriend, citing that he loves playing match maker. He lands on Gabby (Rosie Bentham) and sets about bringing the two together.

But in yet another psychologically abusive move, Tom works to pique Belle’s jealousy by becoming close with Gabby himself. Will this awful new plan of his work?

Or perhaps he’s starting to get sloppy. Belle seems wise to his inconsistencies, and Cain’s still troubled by the circumstances around their ‘burglary’ not making sense.

Is nasty Tom coming unstuck?
