If there’s one thing the Emmerdale residents appear to be struggling with at the moment, it’s keeping hold of their jobs.

In recent scenes, not one but two show legends were reprimanded for mistakes at work, with one actually losing their job – though it wasn’t really their fault.

Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) was feeling down after her breakup with Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), but little did she know that Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) and Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) were also conspiring to get her fired.

After being urged by Eric to get rid of Victoria, Jai saw the perfect opportunity when she smashed a glass while preparing a pizza for Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy).

He asked Victoria if she wanted to take the rest of the day off for compassionate leave, but when she declined the offer he placed a piece of glass on Laurel’s pizza.

When Victoria later served it, Jai pretended to find the shard and tore into Victoria for her carelessness.

When Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) caught wind of what had happened, she wasted no time in agreeing that Victoria should be fired, given that this was her second careless and potentially fatal mistake in recent memory.

Victoria was devastated, and soon took to propping up the bar in the Woolpack where Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) offered her some advice.

Also chiming into the conversation was barmaid Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), who was about to get a dressing down of her own.

It didn’t take long for boss Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to realise that Kerry had been drinking on the job, and she soon ripped into her for her behaviour.

Fortunately, Kerry was able to talk Charity round, explaining that she was upset about being disowned by Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) and missing grandson Reuben on his first birthday.

Reluctantly, Charity allowed Kerry to keep her job, but warned her to buck up her ideas in future.
