Emmerdale aired some heartbreaking scenes tonight as Tom King violently assaulted his wife Belle Dingle.
Belle has been coercively controlled by her husband Tom ever since they got married, and things have been getting increasingly worse. In heartbreaking scenes, Tom forced Belle’s hand under the hot water and burned her.
She was terrified by his actions, which took place after he found out that she had been lying to him about taking contraception. Whilst he wants a baby, she is not ready yet and has been taking her pill without his knowledge.
Devastatingly, Tom turned physical with Belle after all the guests had left, with fans heartbroken for the young resident. One wrote: “I wonder if Belle will just turn around and kill him, I’ll be thrilled. I will be so f***ing proud. Please just let it happen. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. #Emmerdale,” whilst a second added: “Kill him Belle, kill him ffs #Emmerdale.” A third shared: “Get the dog knock a candle over and leave! Let him burnnn #emmerdale,” whilst a fourth penned: “Predicting a ‘Who killed Tom’ story line in a few weeks.”
Tom’s abuse turned physical in harrowing scenes
Fans have been left fearful for Belle after vile Tom’s abuse worsened, with some convinced she could lose her life in devastating scenes. Viewers begged for Belle to leave Tom before it was too late.
Speaking about the heartbreaking scenes, Belle actress Eden Taylor Draper explained: “I think you can expect to see everything escalate throughout the episode. You’ll see how easily Tom can switch on and off and how he truly feels and his anger towards Belle. You’ll get a glimpse into Belle’s terrifying reality. He’s so good at turning it on her and I think when that’s being drilled into her constantly, every day for everything, it’s easy for her to believe that she’s the one at fault.”
James Chase – who plays Tom King – added of the episode: “It’s going to be a very interesting and different one for sure. We get to see two storylines from different relationships come to an intense peak. Having them collide like this makes for an exciting watch, though perhaps a difficult one … No one has any idea. Tom is a master of performance, able to hide his true feelings and convey something very different to get people on his side. Also, Rhona and Marlon’s rising tension only helps to disguise Tom and Belle’s true situation.”
