Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle ‘works out’ sinister attack as Belle and Tom make amends
Emmerdale fans were devastated to see Tom King win over his wife Belle Dingle after he brutally punched her, but believe that one resident has clocked that she is being abused
Emmerdale fans are convinced that one member of the Dingle family has worked out Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is being abused by her husband Tom King (James Chase).
Over the past few months, the long-running show has been tackling the sensitive topic of domestic violence through the blonde bombshell’s marriage to Carl King’s son. The junior vet, played by James Chase, has tried to exert control over his wife by gaslighting her and keeping an eye on her every new.
More recently, Tom has tried to pressure Belle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper) into have a baby despite her wanting to climb a few notches on the ladder first. Earlier this week, the coercive husband tried to drive a wedge between Belle and her long-time pal Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).
But things escalated to a whole new level on Thursday (May 16) when Tom punched her in the stomach after she caught him spying on her at work. On Friday’s visit (May 17) to the ITV Dales, the viewers caught up with the TV favourite as her husband pleaded with her to stay together.
He began: “Mandy said you had words, I just wanted to see if you were okay, you know, with her being a gob on legs sometimes?” She replied: “We’re fine. I thought we’d sorted it to be honest.”
“Oh, I must have got it wrong then,” he quipped. It was at this point that he asked her why she failed to answer the phone when he called.
He went on: “I called you earlier and you didn’t pick up?” Belle insisted: “I must have been busy. I saw you text about no change with Nicky, I’m sorry about that.”
Her protective uncle went on to invite the pair to dinner which Tom quickly accepted. After he left, Tom thanked his bride for keeping his abuse a secret and went on to promise her that they would be together forever.
But viewers aren’t convinced her uncle believed her story as they flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions online. One user penned: “Cain has a sniff something ain’t right. I’m here, ready and waiting for what’s coming to Tom #emmerdale.”
Another agreed: “Cain has suspicions Tom is s**t scared of him isn’t he though? #Emmerdale.” A third echoed: “Tom looks petrified of Cain [two cry-laughing emojis] – it’s only a matter of time! The clock is ticking for you Tom [two applause emojis, two scared emojis].”
Viewers will have to stay tuned to see what will happen when Cain finds out the truth of Tom’s abuse. Emmerdale airs on weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
