Emmerdale has cast Waterloo Road star Osian Morgan for a new storyline which will see his character grow friendly with Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).

Osian played sinister killer Myles Massey in series 12 of the BBC One school drama, who wreaked havoc on the school from the moment he arrived, and made it clear that he wasn’t there to make friends.

His villainy reached new heights when he left Preston Walters (Noah Valentine) to die, before later starting a fire in the dramatic season finale, which resulted in the tragic death of Danny Lewis (Adam Abbou).

Now, Osian is set to join the cast of Emmerdale in the coming weeks as another character set to disrupt the status quo – this time among the Dingles.

‘He’s coming in as a new pal who turns Samson Dingle’s head,’ a source told The Sun. ‘They become firm friends and start to plan a big trip around Europe but this new lad puts the backs up of Lydia and Sam. He’s set to cause chaos in the Dales.’

This isn’t Osian’s first foray into the world of soap, having previously played the role of Aaron Monk in Pobol y Cwm – another controversial character.

‘So far in my career I’m just being typecast with absolute horrible, nasty, disgusting characters,’ Osian previously told Metro.co.uk.

‘When I played Aaron in Pobol y Cwm he had the most beautiful side, he was loved by everyone dearly and had some lovely heartwarming storylines and then he had this right wing, fascist, extreme storyline and everyone just hated him.’

Osian’s Emmerdale casting comes amid reports that actor Sam Hall is set to leave the show, though he recently shut down rumours that Samson is set to be killed off.

Speaking to Inside Soap Magazine, he said: ‘Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but Samson has some big stuff coming up. However, don’t worry, as he’s definitely not being killed off!

‘There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts…’

Sam has played the role of Samson, who was born on screen, since he was just five-years-old.

Samson’s mum Alice (Ursula Holden-Gill) battled cancer throughout her pregnancy and delayed chemotherapy treatment until she gave birth.

Six months later, Sam Dingle (James Hooton) helped Alice to die by administrating a fatal dose of morphine but Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) took the blame so that baby Samson wouldn’t lose both of his parents.

In recent years, he’s become a father himself after conceiving baby Esther with Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).
