One Emmerdale character could be bowing out of the soap in tragic scenes next week 18 years on from them joining the ITV soap, as a life-changing event leaves them in danger

Emmerdale could air a sad death next week after a dark twist unfolds, changing lives possibly forever on the ITV soap.

Amid reports one character will be leaving the show this year after 18 years in the village, a new storyline sees that very character in grave peril. By the end of next week, one character faces danger in a horror accidental stabbing – as another fan favourite faces trouble.

What happens next remains to be seen as spoilers remain coy over the injured character’s fate, amid mixed reports they will be leaving at some point. Samson Dingle finds his new pal Josh getting him into trouble, and it’s not long before his life is on the line.

As Josh battles with Matty Barton over some cruel jibes from the newcomer, things get heated and as Matty holds onto a knife, it ends up impaling Samson. It all kicks off when Samson shares his plans to leave the village with Josh, and go travelling.

His family aren’t keen on this, unsure it’s safe and not liking Josh one bit. Josh wastes no time in trying to woo some of the village ladies, one of them being Matty’s wife Amy Wyatt.

So when Matty gets the upper hand over Josh numerous times next week, vile Josh takes action. Amy is uncomfortable with Josh’s endless flirting, to the point she leaves work at the HOP.

Matty defends his wife and gives Josh some home truths, leaving him embarrassed. He’s clearly fuming though after he and Samson are forced to leave the premises, but he’s not done.

With him knowing that Matty is trans, he cruelly dead-names Matty before heading back inside the HOP to teach him a lesson. Samson follows and doesn’t even step up for Matty, who is practically family via Samson’s uncle Cain Dingle, Matty’s stepdad.

The situation grows hostile as Josh starts threatening Matty to give up the money in the till. As Matty refuses, Josh shoves Samson into him, while Matty has been holding a knife and this impales Samson by accident.

With Samson bleeding out, Josh twists the narrative and stands back while accusing Matty for coming at them with the blade. Matty fears for his future and if he will be believed, while Samson is in grave danger – but will he survive?
