Emmerdale fans are convinced Ruby Fox (Beth Cordingly) will be the next character to leave the village after Ethan Anderson (Emile John) drops dead.

During Tuesday’s visit (May 28) to the ITV village, fans caught up with the solicitor as he prepared to be sentenced for leaving Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) in a hit-and-run. The episode opened as vicar Charles shared some words of advice for his doting son as he prepares to face the cold hand of justice.

But things took an unexpected turn when his dad started to iron his shirt as the legal advisor collapsed to the floor. Despite giving CPR, Ethan sadly passed away at hospital as Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) delivered the gut-wrenching news to his family.

As Manpreet tearfully explained there would be an autopsy into his sudden passing, a raging Charles said in front of Ruby that he would get revenge on his killer. He fumed: “We know what happened, he was run over.

I swear by all mighty God, I will not rest until this person pays for what they have done.” Last week, it came to light that Ruby had run Ethan over and left him bleeding on the side of the road.

The doting mum was determined to get revenge by hurting her son’s assailant and abandoning him like Ethan did to Nicky last month. But her plan quickly backfired after Ethan passed away just days later.

Could she flee the village before Ethan’s autopsy is completed? Meanwhile, viewers are convinced that she will somehow get away with murder despite his father’s fury.

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – viewers shared their suspicions online. One user penned: “If anyone can cover their tracks it’s goddess ruby [fingers crossed emoji, prayer emoji] # emmerdale.”

Another agreed: “I bet Ruby gets away with it the twisted cow #Emmerdale.” A third echoed: “Ruby will probably get away with it like Kerry, Amy, Moira and probably a lot of others I’ve forgotten about #Emmerdale.”

A fourth chimed in with: “What are the odds the autopsy on Ethan will come back he died from something else other than the hit and run and Ruby gets away with it. That would be a bad way to go about it. It’s like letting people think they will get away with the same act… #Emmerdale.”

But she isn’t the only villager who has committed murder tonight, after evil veterinarian Tom King (James Chase) gave his dog Piper a dose of lethal injection on Monday night (May 27). The following day, Belle’s furry friend fell seriously unwell but it is not known if he gave the pup a high enough dose to end her life.

It was up to Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) to deliver the heartbreaking news about Piper’s poor health to Belle during her visit to her psychiatric hospital. Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if her perfect pooch will survive his deadly treatment.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
