A few months ago, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) were on cloud nine after getting engaged in Emmerdale so when we caught up with them in Thursday’s (July 4) episode, we were left a little bit worried.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen a lot of Paddy and Mandy, but they’ve been involved in other storylines with village residents.

For Paddy, he played a part in helping Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Rhona (Zoe Henry) through their relationship struggles and for Mandy, she was seen in an earlier part of Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom’s (James Chase) storyline, before she realised she was being abused by her husband.

Mandy wasn’t in a good mood in tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap and it was largely down to the fact her day at the salon wasn’t as busy as she hoped. To try and cheer her up, Paddy suggested an afternoon at the café to do some wedding prep, but Mandy didn’t seem too keen.

When they arrived, Paddy picked up on Mandy’s lack of enthusiasm again. He asked her what was wrong and if she still wanted to get married. Mandy said yes, but she also said she wants to enjoy the feeling of being engaged for a little while longer.

The couple got distracted moments later because Marlon arrived. Paddy then suggested Marlon and Rhona visit them for an evening of games and drinks. Marlon agreed but once again, Mandy didn’t exactly jump up and down with excitement.

When Marlon and Rhona arrived at Tenants, they sat down with Paddy and tried to enjoy a few board games. They were, however, regularly interrupted by Mandy, who wanted them to loosen up and enjoy some martinis.

Things then got very awkward and tense, as Mandy was very honest about her opinion towards Rhona, and started to call her boring.

Paddy tried to get Mandy to reign it in a bit, but Rhona was already very offended.

The scenes with Paddy and Mandy tonight discussing their upcoming wedding has left us very concerned indeed. Was Mandy telling the complete truth when she said she just wanted to enjoy the engagement for longer?

Or is she hiding something?
