Amelia Misunderstands Belle’s Intentions, Eden Taylor-Draper Explains
After escaping her abusive marriage with Tom, Belle Dingle is now facing more of his toxic behaviour. Tom has been secretly spying on her and even lied about her dog, Piper, being dead. Belle recently went to the police to see if she could use Clare’s Law to dig into his past.
Next week, Belle is shocked that Tom is starting a relationship with Amelia Spencer. She immediately worries about Amelia’s safety. Later, when Tom sneaks into Belle’s house, she demands that he stay away from Amelia. Eden Taylor-Draper explained that Tom interprets Belle’s reaction as jealousy.
However, she clarified, “But in fact, it’s the complete opposite. Belle is just so worried for Amelia’s safety.” She mentioned that Belle would do anything to prevent a similar situation from happening again, but Tom misunderstands her concern as lingering interest. Meanwhile, Amelia thinks Belle is still obsessed with Tom.
This creates a frustrating situation because no one sees Belle’s actions for what they are. The soap star shared that Belle believes her torment will continue even after Tom breaks into her house.
Now, she feels trapped in this situation. She said that Belle thinks this is how her life will be because she doesn’t have the strength to escape it. Taylor-Draper explained that Belle is so worn down by everything that she has almost given up.
Soap Announces Special Belle-Centric Episode
Additionally, the soap is set to air an hour-long special ‘alternate realities’ episode focused on Belle on September 5, 2024. In the episode, Belle will experience a dreamlike day during which she envisions possible outcomes for her future. The episode is created with guidance from the domestic violence charity Refuge.
It’s written by Tony Higgins and directed by Tim O’Mara. Show producer Sophie Roper revealed, “In this stylised episode, we explore Belle’s worst fears and see the true extent of the impact of her abusive relationship with Tom has had on her.”
She expressed that even one person seeking help after seeing Belle’s situation would be considered a success.
