‘One person definitely will be getting revenge on Joe Tate’
As mentioned, on Thursday, May 8 Emmerdale viewers will see an attack on Joe Tate which will leave the Home Farm villain’s life at risk. Laura explained: “As soon as he arrived (back) in the show we knew he had quite a few enemies straight away. What we’ll see in the run up (to Thursday’s attack) is that he manages to accrue quite a few more.
“By the time we get to this episode, that list has grown and grown. So, what you see is a birthday party that has been arranged for Lydia. We’ve got lots of people up here and there are a lot of daggers drawn and there are a lot of people looking at Joe Tate and want him d.e.a.d.”
‘A treat for diehard fans’
On the Home Farm scenes, Laura said: “We did a who k.i.l.l.e.d Tom King storyline in 2006 (at Home Farm) and there’s going to be a little bit of a homage to that.”
She added: “There’s a couple of little Easter eggs on that.”
Character to leave…
We are going to see one villager leave Emmerdale for a period of time in what appears to be a hard-hitting storyline.
Laura explained: “The character of Bear. We have got a big storyline coming up for him. He’s going to go off-screen for a little while, go missing, and when he comes back what you’ll see is a different Bear in a different situation and we’re all going to be watching and going ‘what the hell has happened here?’ So, that’s going to be really exciting.”
Pregnancy storyline
Emmerdale fans will encounter a divisive pregnancy plot.
Laura said: “You’ve seen on-screen recently Sarah deciding she wants to have a baby. That’s going to be a big story for us over the next 12 months or so. There’s lots of twists and turns, it’s going to cause some big ruptures in the whole (Dingle) family.”
Star’s return to the show
“The lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is going to be returning to the show. He’s going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And, that’s going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there.
“We’ve got a couple of exciting new castings who are joining us for that storyline. I’m absolutely not allowed to tell you who they are…yet. But watch this space as it’s very exciting.”
Bradley Riches joins Emmerdale
“We are very excited about that.” Laura explained Bradley’s casting as a member of the Barton family. “This character was definitely created just for Bradley.”
“I’m d.e.a.d excited for you all to see what chaos Lewis will bring.”
‘A big week of episodes’
Teasing something major for two villagers, Laura said: “We’ve got big stuff with Aaron and Mackenzie coming up toward the end of the summer into autumn. We have a big week of episodes planned there which is going to be life-changing for those two. We’ve still got that flashforward from the new year, don’t worry we’ve not forgotten about it, to pay off. That might happen there…we shall see. We are actually in the process of building a new set for that week.
“I’ve just read the first drafts of the scripts and, I have to say, they are some of the most exciting and gripping episodes I’ve read in a long time.”
D.e.a.d.l.y wedding drama
And finally, of course, many Emmerdale fans will be wondering if John Sugden will get his comeuppance.
Speaking about the upcoming scenes, Laura concluded: “I also wanted to talk to you about a wedding we’ve got coming up. That is Aaron and John. I’ve just signed off on those episodes in the edit suite and they are very brilliant and very exciting. What you see there is John is full of trepidation heading into his wedding, worrying about all his secrets that might get exposed along the way. What we kind of get is the wedding playing out across the whole week, Monday to Friday (episodes), in one day.
“We’ve got some stylistic fun, in there, of John’s nightmares and we see potential things that can happen. Also, as you know, we have got Aidan in a coma and I can tell you that he’s absolutely not going to be in that coma forever.
“Is he going to wake-up? If he does, what secrets could he come back with? Is he going to spoil the wedding? We shall see. Equally, we know that Nate’s body is still in that lake and, again, I can reveal it’s not going to stay in that lake forever. So, when John finds out that the lake is being dredged, and the body is going to come up, is he going to make it his vows? Is he going to be arrested? It is all going on. It is going to be good.
“With Nate and Aidan both threatening to ruin the day for John and put everything with Aaron at risk – what lengths will John go to to avoid that happening?”
