Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) and Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) realised Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) was off school in tonight’s episode of EastEnders, and didn’t understand why.

The young man and his mum Kat (Jessie Wallace) are currently in the middle of a storyline that looks at child-parent abuse.

Multiple times now Kat has attempted to get control of her son, only for his anger to bubble over and punch her in response. Because she is worrying about what could happen to Tommy and the twins if his violence was exposed, Kat is keeping the ordeal a secret.

In tonight’s episode, Jean and Harvey grew curious when they realised Tommy wasn’t in school. The teenager pretended his teacher was sick, but Jean and Harvey wondered if he was actually telling the truth when a number of school pupils walked by.

A little while later, Jean and Harvey spotted Tommy in the market again. He was busy laughing and filming a resident who had fallen on the floor.

Jean contacted Kat, who responded and said that Tommy is out because she’s inside with Coronavirus.

In the flat though, that was far from the case.

Kat was looking in the mirror, processing the fact she now has a very large bruise over her eye courtesy of her son.

Next week in the soap, Alfie (Shane Richie) arrives home early from Birmingham. This leaves Kat startled, as she’s forced to try and hide her injury.

Fortunately though, Alfie spots the bruise and questions Kat, but she lies and says it came from a boozy night out with Stacey (Lacey Turner).

This lie doesn’t last long, however, as Alfie chats to Stacey in the pub and realises Kat isn’t being entirely honest with him. Just as he returns to the flat, Kat is inside having a go at Tommy for using her credit card without permission.

As they argue, Alfie listens in and proceeds to demand answers. The next day, after being questioned by Alfie, Kat finally admits that Tommy injured her.

That evening at the flat, the Moons and Freddie (Bobby Brazier) sit down for a meal, but it isn’t long before chaos descends after an altercation between Tommy and Freddie escalates.

The next morning, Kat and Alfie are reeling from a night of carnage, but Kat continues to make excuses for Tommy’s behaviour.
