Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) is consumed by guilt in EastEnders next week, as she wrestles with going behind relatives Kat Mitchell (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon’s (Shane Richie) backs over their son Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall).

As fans know, the teenager has been abusing mum Kat, who had been hiding the extent of his violent actions from her loved ones.

However, in scenes to air later this week, an altercation between Tommy and Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) escalates, and the truth comes spilling out about his recent behaviour.

Jean then secretly calls social services, which has serious consequences for Kat and her family.

Next week, the Slaters are still reeling from the events of that night, and Jean is struggling to cope with the actions she took and how things have played out since.

After an ill-timed comment from Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in the café. Jean’s daughter Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) convinces her to keep quiet about her call to social services.

Jean then feels ashamed when she spots a tense conversation between Alfie, Kat and Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) on the Square.

It later gets all too much for Jean when Elaine Peacock (Harriett Thorpe) probes for gossip at The Vic, and she accidentally offends Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho).

Things also remain tense between Kat and Alfie following the events of the previous week – but how will Kat react when she finds out the truth about Jean’s call?

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One, and from 6am on iPlayer.
