How will Emmerdale conclude the saga of Tom King? For months now, frustrated viewers have watched as terrible Tom has tormented wife Belle – first during their marriage, and now in the aftermath of his being exposed as an abuser.

While Tom’s secret is out now, he’s still denying it all. He’s even faked being beaten up to keep uncle Jimmy on side. But with the Dingles shouting of Tom’s guilt from the rooftops, and Nicola increasingly convinced too, it’s clear he’s facing a losing battle.

But how will Tom’s story end?

Fans of the soap have predicted that this is all headed for a classic Christmas whodunnit – with Emmerdale setting things up for a ‘Who Killed Tom King mark Two.’

Emmerdale fans predict Tom King whodunnit is coming

Writing on a Reddit thread, one fan said: “I could honestly see ’em redoing who killed Tom King number two for Christmas. It fits perfectly, 18 years on from his granddad. And Belle’s birthday is also on Christmas. I’m pretty sure it would link up very well?”

“Kim’s horse is shining his hooves ready for action,” joked another – referring to the death of rapist Craig, who had been done in by Kim Tate’s horse – resolving the soap’s last whodunnit.

“Are they gonna do a who killed Tom?” asked a third, over on X.

“This storyline is going to end with a ‘who killed Tom’ ending. So many suspects from Cain to Isaac. But I think it’ll be Amelia,” said another.

Who killed Tom King? No, not that one

Such a storyline would follow in the footsteps of Classic Emmerdale‘s Who Killed Tom King storyline of 2006. This saw family patriarch Tom defenestrated (pushed out of a window, to you and I) – with his three sons and new wife as prime suspects.

This carried on for five months, when the killer was finally revealed. As Matthew and Jimmy fought it out – with Matthew accusing Jimmy of killing their dad – Carl confessed the truth.

Carl had whacked his dad over the head in a fit of frustration, after Tom attempted to force him to split up with Chas with the threat of disinheritance. As Tom grabbed on to his son, Carl pushed him away – causing him to fall out of the window.

Will history repeat itself?
