Emmerdale ‘confirms’ who takes Ross down a peg – and it’s not Jade

Emmerdale’s Ross Barton (Michael Parr) may rue the day he crossed Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) as the pair contemplate getting their own back.

Ross, as viewers know, has done nothing but wreak havoc since the moment he stepped foot back in the eponymous village last week.

From putting son Moses’ life in danger twice to deliberately trying to come between Mack and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), the popular character has made no shortage of enemies, with Billy the next in line to be wronged by the returnee.

Billy was the opponent that Ross fought during the illegal boxing fight organised by Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore), who is demanding a rematch after the last one had a less than desirable outcome.

Billy refused to take part at first but, after Jade threatened his loved ones, he had no choice but to comply. Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) was blissfully unaware of her hubby’s illegal activities but he was forced to come clean on Wednesday (November 6) after Clemmie and Lucas vanished.

It turns out that Jade had nothing to do with such a thing and the children were simply playing but it was too late to backtrack as Billy had already spilled the beans.

After the initial anger subsided, Dawn devised a plan – with some assistance from former flame Ross – as she suggested they go ahead with the rematch as planned but that Billy throw the fight after three rounds, allowing Ross to pick up the victory as such an outcome would be more lucrative.

Ross was game but Billy was not, refusing point blank to let Dawn’s former love interest to be declared the winner. Dawn reiterated what was at stake, urging Billy to put his male ego aside and do what’s right for the family.

Billy agreed but later spoke to Mack about the situation, venting his frustrations over Ross. Mack understood completely given that he also has taken issue with Ross’ attitude after he tried to kiss Charity earlier in the week.

The farmhand suggested that perhaps someone should teach Ross a lesson. Billy’s interested was piqued. The question is: will he do such a thing?

Will he be the one to take Ross down a peg or two? And if so, just where does this leave the fight situation?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX.
