There were fears for Lauren Branning’s (Jacqueline Jossa) health during Monday’s EastEnders, as she hit rock bottom following the crowd crush at Peggy’s.

The character was caught up in the incident at the Walford nightclub back in September and was hospitalised with her injuries.

Lauren has struggled with continued pain, with things reaching a head during the latest episode of the BBC soap, after she snapped at partner Peter Beale (Thomas Law) and their son Louie.

With the school closed for teacher training, Lauren was furious with Peter for agreeing to work for his dad Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) at the pie and mash shop.

Following a showdown, Lauren debriefed with cousin Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) in the café, where she became increasingly irritated with Louie’s demands for attention and snapped at her son.

This proved the catalyst for Lauren to take action, and later that night, she broke down to Peter.

Lauren said she had been taking her frustration out on him and Louie and tearfully admitted she was struggling to cope following the crush.

She then told Peter she’d finally booked an appointment to see the GP to discuss her continued pain.

But as spoilers for this week have already revealed, Lauren will be met with some shock news during her appointment…

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
