EastEnders dropped a heart-wrenching bombshell for Ruby Allen’s toddler son on Thursday (November 21), revealing the two year old is battling liver failure and remains hospitalised.
Earlier this week, Martin Fowler (played by James Bye) was hit with the shocking revelation that his ex-girlfriend Ruby (Louisa Lytton) had given birth to a child while she was in prison, and he was the father of the boy.
Ruby didn’t waste any time returning to Walford to retrieve her son’s stolen birth certificate, confirming his birth in 2022. However, during their latest visit to Walford, Martin and Ruby were informed by a doctor that Roman requires a living liver donor due to his autoimmune hepatitis, resulting in liver failure.

The doctor also clarified that Roman’s condition wasn’t caused by him accidentally consuming a bottle of paracetamol, but rather it was something he would have been suffering from prior to that incident.
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was seen lurking in the corridor, witnessing Ruby pleading with the doctor to let her be her son’s donor despite having different blood groups, which was denied, reportsĀ the Manchester Evening News.

A visibly distressed Martin pledged to do whatever necessary to restore his son’s health. However,Ā EastEndersĀ fans are speculating that Stacey will be a match for Roman and ultimately the one to save his life.
In off-screen news, Lacey Turner is set to take a break from her role as Stacey for maternity leave, leading fans to believe that Roman’s transplant storyline could trigger her temporary departure.

One EastEnders enthusiast speculated on X: “Stacey is going to be that kids liver donor I think? #EastEnders she will pop in and out during Lacey’s Mat leave.”
Another chimed in: “Oh you might be going through the liver donor story is it that one #EastEnders.”
A third fan pondered: “I actually wonder if this could lead into Stacey temporarily leaving for Lacey’s maternity leave.”
“I was thinking this too. Somehow she’ll need to be written out won’t she, quite soon as well”, added another viewer.
EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
