Daisy Campbell has spilled the beans on all the gossip from her Emmerdale leaving bash.

Daisy Campbell, 21, has played Amelia Spencer in Emmerdale since 2011 with the acting star growing up on the ITV soap. As reported earlier this year, Emmerdale bosses felt the time was right for Amelia to leave the village.

Appearing at an Emmerdale press event, at the show’s Leeds base, Daisy admitted her exit comes with ‘mixed emotions’ but she’s looking ahead to the future. One thing that she assured the assembled press was that she’d be keeping in touch with her closest friends from the Emmerdale set.

Those being responsible for giving Daisy a worthy send-off. Discussing her leaving bash, Daisy said: “My amazing friends Katie (Hill who plays Sarah Sugden) and Rosie (Bentham who plays Gabby Thomas) put on a really nice do to surprise me. I didn’t know where it was, at the time the cast didn’t speak to me about it, and I was saying ‘don’t tell me where it is’.

“It was the day after I’d finished and wrapped, it was a really lovely night. We had some drinks, we boogied for a bit and it was really nice. Just seeing everyone before I left.”

While Daisy admitted it was sad to say goodbye she knows she’ll be in touch with many of her former co-stars. Daisy explained: “It is weird, because me and my friends; me, Eden (Taylor-Draper who plays Belle), Izzy (Hodgins who plays Victoria), Rosie (Bentham who plays Gabby), Katie (Hill who plays Sarah), Jack (Downham who plays Noah) and everyone like that, I’ve been to drama school with them and we know each other outside (of work). We are always going to see each other all the time.

“Again, it is emotional. It is weird, it didn’t feel like I was saying ‘bye, bye’. On my last day, I finished earlier than everyone else but I couldn’t leave the dressing room. I couldn’t leave, so I kept putting it off.”

Before leaving the Emmerdale set for one last time, Daisy exited with a few choice souvenirs. She explained: “On our jackets, we have our names on the back, so I took that, as nobody is going to be wearing my name. I took home my costume as I like Amelia’s jackets – so I took all of them. I think that’s it really. Some bits from my dressing room but it was mainly my costume and make-up.”

Looking to the future, Amelia has repeatedly stated that she’s open to trying lots of different acting disciplines. Asked if there was anyone from the Emmerdale cast she looked to take inspiration from, an icon’s name quickly came to mind.

Daisy said: “I think Claire King. I had a little bit with her in 2022 but I never had anything when she was first in it. I just think she came back (returning to Emmerdale for a second spell in 2018) and she’s the most humble person ever, so down-to-earth, which I’m all about. She came back and didn’t mention to anyone what she’d done before, what she’d done in-between and she just gets on with the job. I just think she’s such an icon and part of the show – that’s what Emmerdale is about. Claire King, she’s a Tate. I really appreciate her career and what she’s done coming from soap.

“I think us soap actors get really looked down on sometimes in this career and I don’t know why. We do so much. We do 10 scenes a day which is crazy and this is the best place to get your experience and I’m going to take that away with me.”

We’ll, of course, keep you posted on what is next in Daisy Campbell’s career.
