Emmerdale’s Daisy Campbell has confirmed Mark Jordon will return to the soap for her final storyline in the show.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed Daisy had been axed after playing Amelia Spencer for 13 years.

Amelia is mum to a young girl called Esther and last year, she lost her dad Dan (Liam Fox) to prison after he punched a stalker called Lloyd, with the injuries he sustained leading to his d.e.a.t.h.

Daisy, who is 21, previously spoke about her departure from the ITV soap, admitting the thought of leaving felt ‘daunting’, given she has grown up on the show.

Just days away from her exit, the star has now opened up a little more about Amelia’s departure from the village. She has also confirmed Mark Jordon will reprise his role as Daz, Amelia’s biological father.

‘It was weird, because we film in two-week blocks. So, the first week was really emotional, because Mark comes back’, she said.

‘Mark Jordan, Daz, so it was lovely to see him again. So that was really emotional and whenever I work with Laura, who plays Kerry, she’s so good at doing emotions, the way she cries, I cry. But then the second week, I think I was used to it, because I was really dreading my last block, because I hate crying in front of people unless it’s for a scene.

‘So, I was like, “uhh!’”, but my last week just felt fine. I didn’t really cry that much. I was actually proud of myself. I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve not got teary ones this week.’ But yeah, it was emotional, really emotional.’

She added: ‘Amelia ends up going to live back with Daz. Yeah, because we had a scene where I’d say, ‘I’m off to move to Leicester with Esther’ [laughter] and I end up moving back with Daz which is nice. He comes back for one episode, which is lovely.’

Daz was last seen in the Dales in 2019. Actor Mark who plays him is in a relationship with Laura Jordon, who portrays Kerry Wyatt in the show.

For Amelia, she is looking forward to starting her new life away from the Dales. The latter part of this year saw her begin a relationship with abuser Tom King (James Chase), and spent months under his spell.

‘I’ve had a lot of comments of people saying “your character’s so annoying at the minute because she’s not seeing Tom for who he is.” But I think people forget, it’s a story we’re trying to tell, and he’s such a manipulator, he knows what he’s doing, and obviously he’s done it to Belle so he can do it to someone else’, Daisy said, reflecting on this side of the storyline.

‘And because Amelia is so much younger, I mean she’s only 18, she is very vulnerable. And I think I’ve had a lot of comments saying “she’s frustrating me”, but it frustrates me because then I’m like, “Oh no, this is the story. This is how it is. This is real life!”. But it does frustrate me in some areas, because I’m like, “Oh, come on, Amelia, like you’ve got a kid now, he’s older, come on. Get the cogs turning because you should know,” but I think the main thing is she’s trying to protect Esther over herself.

‘Obviously, we’ll see that play out a little bit more later on, but yeah, it can be frustrating seeing it because anyone else watching it, were like “why is she doing that? She should know what he’s like,” but she’s always been head over heels for boys a lot older than her, for Noah and Tom. But it can be frustrating.’

Pondering over her new life post-Emmerdale, Daisy smiled: ‘There’s so much I want to do. I really want to do Strictly, that’s one thing I really want to do next year, because I’m a dancer. I’ve always danced since I was like three, and I don’t know how to do the salsa or anything, so I think that’d be cool to learn and I just would never say no to a job. I’m really open to doing anything. I’d love to do plays. I’d love to tour.

‘I’d love to do new dramas, films, low budget stuff, literally anything. I just feel like the world’s my oyster, like I’ve never known anything different. So, it’ll be cool to see how everything else works.’
