April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) was left heartbroken in Emmerdale to learn of the circumstances that led to mum Donna’s (Verity Rushworth) d.e.a.t.h a decade ago.
Donna, as viewers will recall, took her own life by jumping from as multi-storey car park with d.a.n.g.e.r.o.u.s c.r.i.m.e lord Gary North handcuffed to her. She was terminally ill at the time.
Ross Barton (Michael Parr) was present at the time of her d.e.a.t.h. The popular character, who staged a comeback to the ITV soap earlier this year, reconnected with April this week – unaware of the danger that would ensue.
With Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore) believing him to have stolen the money from the illegal fight at Butlers last month, Ross was determined to find a way to pay her off, knowing how dangerous she can be.
Things escalated dramatically, however, when he discovered that Jade had kidnapped April and was holding her hostage on the roof of the same multi-storey car park where Donna d.i.e.d.
Ross raced to the location in question, where Jade’s thugs held April over the edge of the roof, threatening to push her if they didn’t get the cash.
But Ross really didn’t have the money!
Back in the village, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) learned that April had been taken and thus he and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) raced to the car park, where they handed over the remainder of the cash.
Mack, as viewers know, was the one who took the money during the fight at Butlers.
April raced into Ross’ arms, devastated by the ordeal that she’d been put through, but more heartache was set to ensue, with Ross telling her the circumstances that led to her mum’s d.e.a.t.h.
The news came as a huge shock to April, who sobbed as she attempted to process everything.
Ross was adamant that Donna loved her very much and that she was trying to rid the world of a dangerous c.r.i.m.i.n.a.l at the time of her death.
But it was no use as April was devastated, believing that she’d been robbed of a chance to say a proper goodbye to her beloved mum.
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was kept in the dark about what happened to April but he could tell there was something on her mind as he offered her a hug.
Will April open up about her ordeal? Will she tell Marlon that she knows about how her mum d.i.e.d?
