Outrage as Eric is caught by Brenda with much younger Emmerdale villager
Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) branded Eric Pollard’s (Chris Chittel) theft of her savings the deepest betrayal in Emmerdale, which seems to have been taken as a challenge by Eric to outdo himself.
Brenda was mortified when she learned that Eric had taken her savings and invested it into some scam crypto currency. He lost the lot and took out a loan against the house to try and earn some of it back.
He stole money from the shop and bet it on horses to recoup some of it.
But when Brenda found out, she realised just how dire things were – she couldn’t even afford to buy her wedding dress.
Brenda found out, and all hell broke loose, derailing their Christmas wedding plans.
The blame is laid at his m.e.d.i.c.a.t.i.o.n, which Dr Liam (Jonny McPherson) claimed was leading Eric to do impulsive and irrational things without thinking.
While he may well be right, his assessment of Eric’s health won’t bring back the thousands of pounds he’s squandered.
Pollard desperately wants to make it up to Brenda and save their relationship, but he’s battling his worsening Parkinson’s at the same time.
As his illness progresses, he finds it harder and harder to care for himself. He hires Kerry (Laura Norton) as a cleaner to help him with the housework.
But when Brenda comes home, she is heartbroken to hear Kerry and Eric behaving badly upstairs. If Brenda thought the money theft was bad, this is the nail in the coffin.
Is Kerry doing more favours for Eric than just his cleaning? Is this the final straw for this rocky couple?
