Florence Cassell Comeback? Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise Star Teases Major Spin-Off Twist!
Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise star Josephine Jobert has spoken out about the possibility of returning to the hit BBC crime drama, as well as its spin-off series, Beyond Paradise
Josephine Jobert, best known for her portrayal of Florence Cassell in the hit series Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, has shown interest in appearing in the show’s spin-off, Beyond Paradise, which features Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton.
Josephine had previously shared the screen with Kris during his time as Humphrey Goodman on Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, before his character departed to London with Martha, played by Sally Bretton, paving the way for Ardal O’Hanlon to step in as the lead detective.
Beyond Paradise delves into the romantic journey of Humphrey and Martha in the quaint town of Shipton Abbott.
The inaugural season of Beyond Paradise included a special crossover where characters from Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise made an appearance, celebrating Humphrey’s comeback to Saint Marie and his encounter with Neville Parker, played by Ralf Little.
While Josephine has confirmed she does not plan to return to Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise on a regular basis, she is open to the possibility of making guest appearances, as reported by Express.
During a recent Instagram Q&A session, when a fan posed the question, “Would you do a guest spot on Beyond Paradise the spin-off”, Josephine responded affirmatively: “Yes, why not?”
In an earlier Q&A, she expressed her sentiments about moving on: “I’ve finally been able to say goodbye to Florence, and while I am very grateful to have been part of this project that has brought so many lovely things in my life, I am also happy to be able to move on and take part in new projects.
“But I completely understand why the question is asked. In fact, I am very touched that the public wants to continue following Florence.”
Josephine’s character made an emotional exit from ‘Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise’ earlier this year, with her and on-screen partner Neville Parker, sailing away together.
Following her departure, BBC executives revealed that Don Gilet would be taking over as the lead detective, succeeding Ralf Little.
Speaking about taking on the iconic role, the former EastEnders star said: “Being offered the new lead role in Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands.
“This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled, and dedicated.
“Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time!”
