Emmerdale history to repeat itself as Nicola King struggles to cope after tragic exit

EXCLUSIVE: Emmerdale stalwart Nicola King could end up spiralling once again after she learns her daughter Angelica King's fate.

Emmerdale will see the exit of Angelica King (played by Rebecca Bakes) in upcoming scenes after she is sentenced for killing Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling). In scenes set to air, Angel finally learns her fate and it leaves her parents Nicola (Nicola Wheeler ) and Jimmy (Nick Miles) heartbroken.

Nicola has suffered from trauma before after she was attacked, but with Angel being sent away, could history end up repeating itself? The actress who plays Nicola recently opened up about what is in store for the King family and how Nicola deals with their latest heartache.

Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk and other press, the soap star began: “So the last thing we see of Nicola and Jimmy is Angel is given eight months and then we don’t see anything with Nicola and Jimmy.

“They say their goodbyes off-screen and the next conversation the audience gets to see is obviously Bob, Brenda, Kathy, and Wendy discussing the fact that Angel gets sent to Bristol so she’s not local, either.

“So you know, obviously, they feel very sorry for Nicola and Jimmy because they realise this is going to be a lot harder.”

“The next time we see Nicola and Jimmy they come home, and they’re just in complete shock,” she continued.

“And while a lot of people might go, ‘It’s only eight months’, I think for them, it’s a lifetime, but later on they realise they’re being ridiculous.

“But you know, when you’re not there for your daughter, you can’t go and visit every day, it’s hell on earth, isn’t it?”

Nicola went on to admit her character ends up “lashing out” because she isn’t sure how to cope with Angel’s departure.

‌She added: “And then Jimmy gives her a stern talking to her and says, ‘Look, this is what it is and we have to deal with it’.

“And then obviously, there’s the wonderful olive branch from Bob, and that piece of relief I think sets them on a different path.”

In scenes set to play out this week, the King family attends court where Angel receives her sentence.

Nicola and Jimmy are devastated when the judge sentences Angel to eight months in a secure children’s home.

Nicola breaks down as she struggles to imagine her daughter’s anguish.

Meanwhile, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is emotional as he reads Angel’s letter. Later that evening, Nicola tries to hold herself together when Angel calls in a state of distress.

Unable to help her daughter, Nicola breaks down as she struggles with her own helplessness.

Emotional Nicola goes to the B&B and apologises to Bob. There’s a moment of thawing as the pair support each other in their shared grief.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
