EastEnders confirms unexpected Phil Mitchell twist as Nicola reels
Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) made a startling discovery about Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in Monday’s EastEnders, as concerns grow for his welfare.
Fans of the BBC soap have seen how Phil has become increasingly isolated on the Square in recent months, following the departures of sister Sam (Kim Medcalf), son Ben (Max Bowden) and his split from wife Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace).
After it was recently confirmed that Phil is taking centre stage in a new loneliness storyline, the latest episode saw Nicola uncover signs of his mental health struggle.
Nicola had been busying herself with the relaunch of Peggy’s nightclub, which she bought from Phil last month.
Phil faced a series of blows as Nicola revealed she’d renamed the venue Harry’s Barn, stripping it of his link to his late mother Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor).
Nicola also revelled in telling Phil about her ex-husband Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) going official with Phil’s ex-wife Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
Desperate to get back with Teddy, Nicola hoped to gain Phil’s support in a plan to split Teddy and Sharon up.
However, after reading Phil some home truths during the club opening, Phil walked out and she was forced to think of a new strategy.
Heading over to No. 55 to see him armed with a picture of Peggy as a ‘peace offering’, Nicola was stunned by what she found.
Opening the back door, she saw Phil’s house in a complete state of disarray, with dishes piled high and mouldy food left out, revealing that Phil has not been taking care of himself.
Will Nicola share news of Phil’s struggle with the rest of the family, or will she attempt to use it to her own advantage?
