April Windsor left heartbroken in Emmerdale after tragic revelation about late mum Donna
April has been learning more about how her mum died
EMMERDALE’S April Windsor has been left heartbroken following a tragic revelation about her late mum Donna.
Donna (Verity Rushworth) had April with Marlon Dingle (Mark Charncock) – but the policewoman tragically d.i.e.d in 2014.
April previously learned Donna threw herself and criminal Gary North (Fergus O’Donnell) from a multi-storey car park roof – to both their deaths.
In tonight’s episode, she received an emotional gut punch after discovering more information.
The teenager sat down with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), her mother’s ex, wanting answers to questions about Donna.
She told him: “What I still don’t understand is if she jumped because she was literally d.y.i.n.g of cancer, why was she still chasing criminals?
“Why was she even in work in the first place?”
To this, Ross admitted he hadn’t known about Donna’s cancer until after her d.e.a.t.h.
He explained how she chose to hide the diagnosis and keep working to earn money for April.
However, April retorted: “She could’ve got sick pay.
“She could’ve quit her job and spent the last few months she had left with her five-year-old daughter.”
Ross described how much Donna had loved her job and said it “was who she was.”
April sniped back: “Yeah, loved it more than she loved me.”
She continued: “If she cared that much about catching some random nutcase that she decided to k.i.l.l herself.”
Ross shared how Gary North had threatened to hurt April “in the most disgusting way.”
He added: “She couldn’t let him live. She was protecting you.”
Hearing this, April suggested Ross was implying Donna’s decision had been her fault.
April remarked: “She didn’t k.i.l.l herself because she was sick, but to save me.
“It’s totally different.”
An emotional April then abruptly left, as Ross called out after her.
How will she navigate this new information?
Emmerdale continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
