Emmerdale star drops telling hint about Moira and Cain’s future after Ruby betrayal
Emmerdale's Moira Dingle actress Natalie J Robb made a cryptic confession about Moira and Cain Dingle's future, ahead of a shocking betrayal being exposed on the ITV soap
One Emmerdale star may have dropped a major hint about the fate of a much-loved couple.
Cain and Moira Dingle were finally on track only for this year to see a number of roadblocks cause upset. Moira’s brain tumour diagnosis left both characters in turmoil, while Cain lashed out and even pushed away his son Nate Robinson.
As well as hitting the bottle and violently attacking more than one resident, Cain committed the ultimate betrayal in a recent episode when he slept with his sister-in-law Ruby Miligan. The pair are now trying to keep their fling a secret, but the guilt is eating away at them.
For Cain to betray his own brother is bad enough, but to cheat on his wife while she was undergoing major brain surgery will no doubt spark some strong reactions. Viewers are furious with bosses over the twist, not wanting Coira to split again.
Now, actress Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, may have given the biggest hint yet to what will happen when the fling comes to light. It’s soap land after all, so at some point Ruby and Cain’s secret will likely be rumbled.
So will Cain and Moira be over, and will Moira forgive Ruby? Speaking to The Mirror and other press recently, Natalie teased the future of Coira. While she wasn’t able to address the Ruby twist at the time due to various embargoes, she hinted at her thoughts on the plot while speaking generally.

She told us: “I still don’t know what the outcome of that’s going to be, I haven’t seen the scripts for that yet.” On Cain and Moira’s future, she went on: “I think it’s really important that they stay together, I had this chat with Iain MacLeod, we were talking about marriage and I said ‘Marriages go through things – there’s temptation, there’s things that can happen.’
“If everybody just gave up after the first hurdle in a marriage, people would just not get married now. It’s so easy to get out of marriages now. And for me, I never married because I always said if I ever did it – and I still stand by this – if I do ever do it, it’ll only ever be once.
“That’s why I’m going to wait until I’m 79 and when I die, I’m going to be 80. I do believe that people go through problems with marriages, people change, people grow as humans and individuals.
“It’s quite interesting to see those things happen but you still manage to find that thing that brought you together in the first place. I don’t know, maybe I’m just a dreamer, but in my fantasy world, that’s what I’d like if it was me.
“People who are married and who are in good marriages I think would respect that as well, rather than people just running away and going ‘Right, that’s it, it’s done.’ Because people do go through things, affairs, financial problems, there can be lots of things that happen that can pull you apart, but things can push you together again which I think is nice to play.”
So does this mean we can expect Coira to make it through the latest betrayal? Ruby actress Beth Cordingly also teased what was ahead, saying of Ruby and Moira’s friendship: “Yeah, that definitely carries on, ups and downs, yeah, which is good.”
