Emmerdale Tom King’s fate finally confirmed after tense court showdown with Belle Dingle

SPOILERS: Emmerdale villager Tom King has been jailed after being found guilty of a.s.s.a.u.l.t and controlling and coercive behaviour against his vulnerable wife Belle Dingle

Emmerdale’s Tom King’s reign of terror has finally come to an end after months of manipulating and abusing his vulnerable wife Belle Dingle. The villainous vet tied the knot with Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) earlier this year but their marriage took a turn for the worst.

Belle recently found the courage to report Tom to the police but on the day of the court hearing she was nowhere to be found after hearing about Tom’s staged suicide attempt in prison.

As the Dingles were giving up home of Belle showing up, she appeared to tell her story to the court. During Thursday’s (December 19) hour-long episode, which is now available to watch on ITVX, tension quickly rose between the former married couple as they went head-to-head to try and convince the jury they were telling the truth.

Jurors Heidi (Denise Welch) and Karl were seen disagreeing over the validity of Belle’s testimony and Heidi was quick to come to Belle’s defence but things look damning for Belle as Karl painted a grim picture of her v.i.o.l.e.n.t past,

After much debate, the prosecution finally played their biggest card, the recovery of the camera footage on Tom’s tablet that he tried to destroy. Back in the Jury Room, Kenneth, member of the jury, shared his own emotional personal story about domestic abuse.

As the Jury headed back in to give their verdict the tension, Karl revealed the jury found Tom guilty of both charges of a.s.s.u.a.l.t and controlloing and coercive behaviour and he got three years custodial sentence.

Later, when Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) asked Belle where she was earlier, she revealed that she went to a domestic abuse support group and was strengthened by the stories of the survivors.

A flashback clip later played showing Belle in the group with actors recounting real life testimonies. She explained it was their stories that empowered her to seek justice.
