BBC EastEnders legend’s exit ‘sealed’ 36 years after debut – but fans are livid
EastEnders fans are speculating a dramatic exit for a soap legend in an unexpected murder twist, with rumours swirling that a beloved character will meet their end on Christmas Day.
EastEnders enthusiasts are also convinced that a legendary character is set to depart the show on Christmas Day.
Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), Walford’s notorious troublemaker, made a sensational return to the square last year after a 25-year absence. Cindy was supposedly k.i.l.l.e.d off in 1998 during childbirth.
However, it was later revealed that Cindy had not died but was placed into witness protection. She made her grand re-entry to Walford last summer, alongside Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
Adding to the drama, Cindy’s secret family, The Knights, arrived at the square just weeks before her return. Although initial tensions were high within the newly formed Beale-Knight family, things seemed to have calmed down for the time being.
In a shocking turn of events, Cindy has embarked on an affair with her ex-husband George Knight’s (Colin Salmon) son, Junior (Micah Balfour), who has fallen head over heels for her.
Unbeknownst to Cindy, Freddie Slater’s (Bobby Brazier) recording device had accidentally captured her confessing her affair with Junior. In Thursday’s episode (December 19) available on BBC iPlayer, Elaine Knight (Harriet Thorpe) stumbled upon the recording, leaving her utterly stunned.
Adding fuel to the fire, EastEnders ‘ Christmas Day spoilers reveal that the truth will be exposed when the recording of Cindy’s confession is played in the Queen Vic. Fans reckon Cindy is set for another dramatic exit from Walford after the explosive affair reveal, with viewers thinking “there’s not much more bosses could do to the character.”
Over on a Reddit thread, speculation is rife as one user questioned: “I wonder what they will do with Cindy’s character next year after the big reveal? Her kids on both sides are going to hate her, as are her ex-husband’s so she’ll have no one on the square to turn to. She has made zero friends and her side piece is her stepson, I don’t see them staying together.”
Another fan reckoned: “There’s not really much more you can do with her Character once the affair with Junior is revealed.” A third chimed in that Cindy might either “She’ll have to either either disappear again or turn into a mega villain, just sticking around out of spite.”
Some even fear Cindy’s days could be numbered, with predictions brewing about her potential demise. One viewer pondered on forum X: “So, is Cindy being k.i.l.l.e.d off at christmas or what? ” Another added fuel to the fire saying: “Possible theory. Cindy is k.i.l.l.e.d on Christmas Day in a whodunnit and the culprit is revealed on 40th anniversary.”
And there’s frustration in the air too, with another fan declaring: “I fully don’t really want this. She has potential plus bringing her back from the dead just to k.i.l.l her is stupid.”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
