Emmerdale spoilers: Killer Amit Sharma makes a sinister move – and a show legend is his target
Ever since the tragic death of Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) in Emmerdale and the revelation that his brother Amit (Anil Goutam) was with him when he died, there’s been suspicion that Amit wasn’t telling the full truth about what happened.
Recently it was confirmed that Amit did, indeed, give Rishi a helping hand to ‘accidentally’ fall down the stairs at Holdgate.
A conversation between the businessman and his solicitor Bill (Philip Buck) exposed the fact that Rishi and Amit had come into some money from their Uncle Ravi, but Rishi’s ‘massively convenient’ death, in Bill’s words, meant that Amit inherited everything.
Amit agreed that the ‘tragedy’ of his brother dying had ‘got me out of a bind.’ So while falling short of a literal confession, it’s pretty clear that Amit killed Rishi.
And, to the horror of Emmerdale viewers, it now seems that he has another beloved long-time character lined up to be his next victim: Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).
In Monday (March 18)’s episode, Pollard was feeling a bit down in the dumps because, since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) has been fussing over him and treating him ‘like a delicate egg.’
He wanted to have some fun and relax, so invited grandson Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) to the Hide for lunch. He’d just come into some money from a pension, so it would be his treat.
Despite Jacob’s previous near-death experience thanks to the Hide’s cuisine he readily agreed. Even so, he was also fussing over his granddad a bit, questioning whether he should be drinking quite so much.
This was exactly the kind of treatment Eric didn’t want. ‘People don’t see me anymore, they just see this dreadful disease,’ he complained. So when Matty (Ash Palmisciano) suggested they have a go on the Hide’s brand new pool table, they both thought it was a good idea.
Eric won the game and showed that he’s still got some skills up his sleeve. Feeling in a buoyant mood after his victory he asked Jacob to help him decide on a nice present for Brenda, and because of the recent pension windfall, money was no object.
Overhearing this, Amit’s ears pricked up. Earlier he’d had a phone from someone who was pressuring him for money. It seems that Amit has already spent Uncle Ravi’s money and is looking for his next income stream – or his next victim.
He told Eric he couldn’t help overhearing him talking about buying a present for Brenda and said he had gift ideas and would be happy to share his thoughts.
Elated from his win and with a few glasses of wine inside him, is Eric Pollard about to get himself into a very dangerous situation?
