Ruby Fox-Miligan could turn to murder in a shocking twist on Emmerdale, actress Beth Cordingly has teased.

Beth – best known to viewers for starring in The Bill – recently joined ITV soap Emmerdale as Ruby, the estranged wife of Caleb Miligan. Caleb and his son Nicky arrived in the Dales to try and fleece Kim Tate of Home Farm and all her money.

We are yet to find out what Ruby will do in a bid to keep her loved ones – Caleb and Nicky – close to her, but their relationship has been rocked by an affair between Caleb and Tracy, who was married to Nate.

There has been much discussion on whether Ruby will end up being like Kim Tate, and whilst Beth insisted she didn’t think they were that similar, she did seemingly drop a hint that Ruby might one day turn to extreme lengths to keep her family close.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: “You have to find your own logic through it… Obviously, whether you’re playing a, you know, a murderer or whatever you have to find your own logic. But you always have to find your own logic through it to understand. And, so the only way I could see it is that she’s hurt, it seems that her best form of defence is attack.

“She’s very impulsive and spontaneous, she seems to act without thinking. So a few people have said to me. Oh, ‘Is she like, Kim Tate?’ And I don’t think she’s anything like Kim because Kim is very cool and calculated.”

Caleb and Ruby’s backstory on the ITV soap has yet to be fully explored, but it’s clear she’s made big sacrifices to be with him.

“They got together when they were teenagers and they’re sort of stuck. She’s giving up everything for him in her eyes, she turned her back on her family for him. So since she was sort of 16, he and Nicky have been her whole world, and she doesn’t appear to have any friends. So actually, it’s sort of fear-based, as well in that if she loses them, she loses everything,” she explained.

Ever since she stepped into the Dales, Ruby has been focused on her war with the Dingles, leaving Caleb fuming.

“It’s a very childish way of approaching stuff but the only way I can justify it is she didn’t learn that sophistication, she’s kind of stuck in that teenage thinking of having a family turn their back on her and she’s kind of stuck,” she said.
