Jacqueline Jossa teases major BBC EastEnders bombshell after Cindy’s brutal attack

EastEnders is two months away from its 40th anniversary and Jacqueline Jossa - whose character Lauren Branning recently exposed Cindy Beale's affair - has teased over it

Jacqueline Jossa has teased EastEnders fans that there’s more drama to come.

Earlier this week, viewers of the BBC soap opera saw Cindy Beale (played by Michelle Collins) left for dead after being hit over the head with a shovel on Christmas Day. She has since been placed into a medically-induced coma. There are a number of suspects including Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline, 32. Lauren had exposed Cindy’s affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) in the Queen Vic shortly before the attack took place in the middle of Albert Square.

The revelation devastated Cindy’s partner Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and her family. Her ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) was also shocked over what Cindy and his son Junior had been up to behind everyone’s backs. Jacqueline reflected on her character having “ruined” Christmas once again – after having exposed her father Max Branning’s affair with Stacey Slater in similar fashion in 2007 – in a post on her Instagram Story on Thursday. She also teased in it that fans will enjoy what’s to come on the show.

She said in the post: “Thank you for the DMs and kind words. I love being back on the square causing much chaos. I love slipping Lauren’s boots on and ruining Christmas hehehe. Watching with my family and having them all guessing along etc will never get old and I’m extremely proud. I always say it and will continue to. I bloody love EastEnders.”

Looking ahead to the future, Jacqueline then teased to her followers on the platform in the new post: “Wait till you see what’s in store for the next few months … as you guys know it’s the 40th anniversary [in] Feb 2025 and it’s EPIC!”

She continued: “I wish I could message every one that’s messaged or commented or DMed etc. I just wanted to say thank you. It doesn’t go unnoticed and I really appreciate it. Thank you.” The cast member concluded the post by teasing: “Merry Christmas … if anyone has any huge family secrets they need to be exposed, you know where I am.”

Jacqueline linked to a previous post that she had shared earlier that same day. It featured photos of her posing in the snow in front of the Christmas tree located at the heart of Albert Square on the set of the long-running BBC show.

Alongside the photos, she teased in the caption on her page: “Lauren Branning up to her old tricks again. My girl Lauren does love a Christmas reveal.” The actor concluded by asking the following question: “Who hit Cindy then?”
