Emmerdale spoilers: April ‘d.e.a.t.h’ news, Anthony twist and three characters hospitalised

There’s some huge new Emmerdale spoilers ahead of next week’s big episodes, with hints of a shocking d.e.a.t.h, big discoveries and a special episode.

Viewers were told recently that this New Year, we would get a glimpse of five flashforwards. We are yet to find out who these will involve and how far into the future we will see.

It’s hinted that it will be a sneak peak of future episodes, teasing big moments ahead for more than one character. These flashforwards are planned for New Year’s Eve, so stay tuned for those next week.

But what else is happening in the coming days as we enter 2025? Earlier spoilers had teased Ruby Miligan breaking her silence, Jacob Gallagher facing trouble on his A&E placement and other drama, but there are now a load of new details.

April d.e.a.d?

April vanished on Christmas Day after recently going off the rails. Following her finding out how her mum really died, the 15 year old hit the bottle and began lashing out.

This week after her vanishing act, as the village desperately searched for her, the teen was spotted getting into the back of an unknown car. We didn’t see the driver but it seems to be someone April knows and had planned to meet, given they knew exactly where to find her.

New spoilers reveal there’s some big discoveries about her next week that leave her family reeling, before a tragic twist is teased. After the police search her home, Marlon Dingle realises some money and some of April’s belongings are gone, meaning she likely planned to run away.

The family liaison officer soon shocks him when they find some contraceptive pills in April’s bedroom. Marlon is in despair, and he confronts GP Manpreet Sharma about the pills.

Later on, Marlon is made aware of some of April’s social media activity he hasn’t seen before and what he sees leaves him stunned. It seems April has been hiding a lot, all to be revealed soon.

There’s a terrifying update though when Jacob recognises a purse found on a stabbing victim at the hospital during his placement, and realising it’s April’s he calls Marlon. As tensions rise and fears set in, soon a nurse delivers devastating news to Marlon and Rhona – but has April d.i.e.d?

Anthony twist

Viewers recently learned that Anthony had s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused his daughter Ruby when she was a teenager. But amid fans hoping Ruby will expose him, her own secret could now be at risk.

After Cain Dingle walked in on Ruby clearly terrified of her father recently, Anthony seems keen to take aim at him. Cain realises something isn’t right, and next week he’s rude to Anthony – leading to Ruby warning Cain to back off.

Ruby and Cain are hiding the fact they slept together recently, and soon Anthony finds out the truth. Anthony questions Ruby on her relationship with Cain, and soon she breaks.

Confessing she and Cain slept together, she’s horrified as she has no idea what Anthony will do with the information. Cain is panicked to find out his new enemy knows everything, especially when Anthony decides to make a speech to everyone in the pub.

Will he spill the beans? The scenes lead to a drunk and agitated Ruby breaking her silence to sister-in-law Chas Dingle, seemingly about her abuse hell. But will she tell her it was Anthony?

Special episode as characters hospitalised

Viewers know there is a special episode of the ITV soap airing next week after New Year. Jacob attends his first day of placement at a hospital A&E, and he is soon struggling with the pressure and it all goes wrong.

His day kicks off with a stabbing victim being rushed in, leading to the scenes with Marlon. When his supervisor finds out he spoke with Marlon, she calls him out not happy with his conduct.

While there’s no news on April, another resident is soon rushed into hospital. Charity Dingle brings her granddaughter Sarah Sugden, Jacob’s love interest, into A&E.

Jacob jumps into action when, after drinking, the character collapses – and he’s forced to deal her some tough love. Sarah’s soon left making a confession. Elsewhere, Jacob bonds with an elderly patient named Henry who eases his stress, and later Henry is seen comforting another villager.

Moira Dingle and her husband Cain attend the hospital for Moira’s latest appointment, with her meeting with the radiation oncologist to discuss her treatment plan. Moira becomes emotional during her mask fitting, and when Cain heads off he soon bumps into Henry.

The pair get talking but Moira is upset when Cain isn’t immediately available after the procedure. Will there be anymore twists going off in the special episode?

Jacob in turmoil

As mentioned already there’s a special episode next week, with medical student Jacob taking centre stage. Asides the hospital drama, Jacob is clearly struggling with the pressure and exhaustion of his placement.

After his stressful shift at the hospital, an exhausted Jacob narrowly misses hitting Manpreet in his car. Jacob is horrified and he can’t stop apologising to Manpreet, but she’s clearly worried about his obvious exhaustion – will she get through to him?
