ITV Emmerdale star ‘axed’ in mass cast cull as final scenes to air soon
Emmerdale star Paula Lane's character Ella Forster is expected to leave the village in the spring after it was reported that the character has been axed
Emmerdale fans can expect to say goodbye to a number of characters in the coming weeks
Another Emmerdale star has reportedly been axed from their role.
Paula Lane, who has been gracing screens as Ella Forster, is set to bid farewell to the village after stirring up drama and intrigue in her role as the fiery receptionist turned confidant of Mandy Dingle (played by Lisa Riley) and love interest for Dr Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
The sudden revelation of her character’s dark secret that Ella caused a friend’s untimely death has thrown audiences into suspense. However, the decision to write her out for this spring was confirmed by Emmerdale bosses, per The Sun.
A source revealed, “The days of characters coming in in low profile ways and being bedded in for a year or two are long gone.”
Former Coronation Street Paula Lane joined Emmerdale in 2024
“Newcomers need to make an instant impact with secrets and mysteries but they don’t always work. It’s brutal but it’s how things in telly work now.”
A representative for Emmerdale declined to comment when approached by Express.co.uk.
Before Paula joined Emmerdale in 2023, she featured in other notable TV dramas including Call The Midwife, ITV’s The Royal, and Heartbeat, though many remember her best for her portrayal of Kylie Platt on Coronation Street.
There is set to be more impending exits for fellow cast members including Susan Cookson, Roxy Shahidi, and Lesley Dunlop.
Just last month, Daisy Campbell’s character Amelia Spencer bid farewell to the village, and over the festive period, Will Taylor, portrayed by Dean Andrews, met a tragic end.
Dean issued a farewell to fans via video after his character died from a heart attack over Christmas Day. He seemingly took a swipe at soap bosses as he apologised to followers for not making a formal final video, whispering: “I wasn’t asked, or I would’ve done!”
He also quipped: “For all of those not so lovely messages [that I’ve received from trolls], you’re quite right – I am a c**p actor!” before he added he wanted to “quash any rumours regarding [his] character”, and confirm his exit was permanent.
