Soap star Amy Nuttall has released her first debut single in memory of her late mother. The Emmerdale actress lost her mum at the end of 2023 after a four-month brain tumour battle.

Amy announced a few weeks ago that she would be recreating a song to help with her grief. She recently starred as Lisa in ITV drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office.

Taking to Instagram, Amy took to the stage to share her song, ‘Thank You Mother’ and thanked the charities involved. She also uploaded an emotional snap of herself singing with a photo of her late mother in the background.

She penned: “Thank you for having me @smileycfa and letting me share my song #thankyoumother with you all.
Such an incredible evening celebrating all the wonderful work that all these amazing charities do. In awe of each and every one of them.

“Truly. Utterly heartwarming and awe inspiring. Congratulations to all winners and nominees. (And thank you for putting my mummy on the big screen.. she would’ve loved this SO much).”

Amy Nuttall’s mother has died just four months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. The Downton Abbey star shared the tragic announcement in November with a gallery of snaps of her late mum.

Sharing with her 3,580 followers, she stated: “My heart is beating loudly whilst I write this. Yesterday I said goodbye to my beautiful dear mummy.

“She was diagnosed in July with a glioblastoma (grade 4). To say it was the biggest shock would be an understatement. Together with my wonderful family, we helped care for her to the end where she died in my arms as I lay beside her on 30/10/23 at 5.05pm.”

She added: “Mum, you were my rock. Always. My best friend. I’m not sure how I’m going to do life without you but I know you’ll always be with me to carry me through as you always did. Thank you mummy… you gave me the best days I ever had. #glioblastoma #braintumour #rosemere.”

Amy uploaded a number of heart-breaking images of the pair of them, including childhood snaps, photos from Amy’s wedding day and stand-alone shots of her mother smiling at the camera.

The tragic loss comes just three months after Amy split up with her husband of 11 years, Andrew Buchan. Her marriage broke down after rumours circulated that he’d had an affair in February with his co-star Leila Farzad.

Neither Amy nor Andrew have addressed the split publically.
