Emmerdale has appeared to confirm that they are k.i.l.l.i.n.g off two beloved characters – and fans are not too happy.

Over in the Dales recently, Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) life was turned upside down when her estranged father Anthony (Nicholas Day) rocked up to the Dales. Anthony’s arrival came after her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay) showed up too.

As Anthony settled into the village, Ruby spiralled – clearly hiding something about her dad. Troubled Ruby even ended up cheating on Caleb (William Ash) with his half-brother Cain (Jeff Hordley).

However, it was later revealed that Anthony se.x.u.a.l.l.y abused Ruby as a child. What’s more, it has also been heavily teased that Anthony is actually Steph’s real dad.

Fans predict a double d.e.a.t.h after a ‘clue’

And over in the Dales recently, Ruby confided in sister-in-law Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) about not knowing who Steph’s real father is, but didn’t reveal the distressing details that it could be her own father, Anthony.

Ruby then ordered a DNA test kit to find out whether the results rule out Caleb as the father or not. However, fans are certain that the soap has ‘confirmed’ that both Ruby and Caleb are going to die in what would be a heartbreaking twist.

Earlier this week, Ruby and Caleb shared a sweet moment when they danced along to ‘their song’ on the radio. Talking to daughter Steph, Caleb recalled: “There we were, me and your mum, playing tunes like this and sneaking around. Hiding in corners and well several things lead to several other things.”

Fans picked up on Anthony’s comment

Suddenly, Antony arrived and watched on, before Caleb saw him and referring to Anthony, he said: “And you know what? It was all to avoid the disapproval of someone not a million miles from here.”

Anthony then chimed in and quipped: “I guess you were the modern day Romeo and Juliet,” to which Caleb agreed that they were. However, picking up on Anthony’s comment, fans reckon this hints at Caleb and Ruby’s d.e.a.t.h.

“My prediction is that Caleb and Ruby die, clue is ‘the modern day Romeo and Juliet’,’ said one person on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page.

Someone else agreed: “I thought exactly the same.” While on X, a third fan echoed their thoughts and penned: “Erm ‘Modern day Romeo & Juliet’ comment in tonight’s Emmerdale…

“That better not be a hint to Caleb and Ruby both dying later this year. Ruby is one of the best things to happen to Emmerdale in a long time, so I’ll be raging,” they added.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
