EastEnders Danielle Harold reveals she’s set to return to our screens after months of auditions after soap exit
EASTENDERS star Danielle Harold has revealed that she is set to return to our screen after months of auditions.
The actress, who played Lola Pearce on the BBC soap from 2011 to 2024, said she’s been busy working on new projects since her exit.
Danielle, who is currently taking part on Celebrity Hunted, hinted that she has new roles in the pipeline.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Danielle said: “I’m auditioning at the moment and just getting into the new year.
“I’d love to some dramas this year.
“It takes a minute to get new roles, but it’s just like any job where you’ve played a character for a long time, you need a little minute to come away for yourself as well.”
“I hope I’ll be back on screen this year. I’d love to do some film work, I’d really enjoy that.”
Although Danielle is ready for a new role, the actress admitted that she won’t be joining a rival soap anytime soon.
She told us: “I’m an EastEnders girl, no I don’t think so.”
Danielle said she is still watching EastEnders and praised the soap for some of its recent explosive storylines.
“I’ve watched Christmas and New Year – the Panesears have done amazing and goodbye to Nish,” she said.
“I have no idea who hit Cindy Beale. EastEnders is part of Christmas Day, it wouldn’t be normal to not watch it.
“Phil’s storyline, I love Steve [McFadden], he’s one of the most amazing actors on that show. It is an amazing storyline.
“And I’d definitely love Jay to have another romance after Lola.”
Since Lola’s death, she has made a special appearance via videos she made before her death for her daughter Lexi.
Speaking about whether her character will be seen again on the BBC soap, Danielle said: “I don’t know if I’ll be popping back up again, I can’t say too much.”
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see the star on their screen, as she is currently starring on Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted.
Danielle shared: “It was one of the best experiences of my life, it was such a long time ago now and it’s really weird to see it on telly now.
“The most challenging thing was staying undetected. At the time my character was dying on screen, so hiding was hard but everyone was really amazing looking after us.”
EastEnders fans were left emotional as cancer-stricken Lola said her final goodbye.
Danielle recently opened up to The Sun about the lasting impact Lola’s storyline had had on her.
She said: “It’s hard to let go and shut off after filming. It’s really intense and sad.
“It makes you realise how grateful you are to be healthy and to appreciate life even more.
“I’ve had so many messages from people saying that they’ve only gone to get checked out because of Lola’s storyline and they’ve caught the tumour early.”
