A distressed Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was left shaken after a chilling dream where a police officer confirms April’s d.e.a.t.h near a body in the woods.

Meanwhile, his former stepson, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle), set out to search for April.

But he returned empty-handed as the locals gathered to regroup.

Later, in the Woolpack, Rhona’s mum Mary (Louise Jameson) enraged Marlon by voicing the very fear and possibility that April might be d.e.a.d.

Mary insisted they needed to be realistic.

But Marlon despised her for daring to voice the unthinkable.

But the day took an unexpected turn when Marlon and Rhona were asked to wait for police liaison officer Anna (Rhea Bailey) at their house.

It was evident that something had shifted in the investigation.

Anna revealed there had been a possible sighting of April in Central Leeds.

Although the footage was grainy, Marlon immediately recognised his daughter on the screen.

A relieved Marlon said: “It’s her. April, she’s alive. She’s alive. We’re going to find her.”

For the first time in days, hope surged through him.

Could this be the breakthrough they needed to bring April home safely?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
