It was a matter of time before someone got caught in the crossfire of Ruby Fox-Miligan’s (Beth Cordingly) vicious temper in Emmerdale.

Until now, she’s mostly only wounded with words, but this time she crosses a very serious and unforgiveable line.

Ruby’s made it no secret that she hates the Dingles and the influence they have on her husband’s life, using every opportunity given to her to belittle them and treat them like vermin.

But the family is going through a lot right now; what with Chas’ op, the three men getting tested for the faulty BRC2 gene, Charity (Emma Atkins) battling her mental health demons, and Marlon (Mark Charnock) supporting his wife ahead of a court battle. In short, their patience with Ruby has run out.

Ruby has been working towards getting Caleb (Will Ash) away from what she perceives as the blood-sucking family but one brief conversation between Caleb and Chas derails the whole plan as Caleb decides he needs to stay in the village.

As Caleb and Ruby enter the Woolpack, the air turns instantly frosty. Before long, mud is being slung from Ruby towards the Dingles as Ruby fails to control herself.

As her inner fire takes hold, she takes leave of her senses and lashes out.

As her fury releases, she elbows Chas painfully in the chest. Chas crumples in pain, and the fallout is instantaneous. The Dingles turn on Ruby with the viciousness she afforded them.

Ruby finds herself suddenly ostracised and is hurt more than Chas’ burst stitches when Caleb takes the Dingles’ side and leaves her out in the cold.

Ruby has truly done it this time, will she be able to convince Caleb it was just an accident?
