EastEnders: ‘work out’ who attacked Cindy Beale after spotting clue in sinister letter

EastEnders fans are convinced Anna Knight was the one who attacked her mother, Cindy Beale, as they picked up on a clue in the latest episode of the BBC soap

EastEnders legend Cindy Beale (played by Michelle Collins) was discharged from hospital on Thursday (January 16) following a Christmas Day assault. Earlier in the week, Cindy emerged from her coma and disclosed that she had seen Lauren Branning, portrayed by Jacqueline Jossa, at the scene before blacking out.

Lauren, who is pregnant, was taken into custody for attempted m.u.r.d.e.r of Cindy but was subsequently released on bail. She later confessed to her boyfriend Peter Beale, played by Thomas Law, that she had indeed found Cindy in the snow that night and left her there.

However, due to an excess intake of p.i.l.l.s, Lauren’s memory of the events of Christmas night was hazy. Peter, on the other hand, seemed to have secrets of his own as he was spotted burning a blood-stained scarf on a barbecue.

In the latest visit to Walford, Cindy returned to Albert Square post-hospitalisation and was compelled to stay with Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) as former partner Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) refused to let her return home.

Cindy’s arrival was met with a cold reception from both the Beale and Knight families. However, it was Ravi (Aaron Thiara) who informed Cindy that Lauren had requested drugs from him, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Cindy confronted Lauren in the café, shocked to discover that Peter was already aware of the situation. Later in the episode, Lauren paid Cindy a visit, and it appeared that the pair decided to end their ongoing disputes.

Lauren was consumed by guilt and ultimately decided to reveal the truth about the night of the attack to Cindy.

However, before she could confess, a brick shattered the window, accompanied by a menacing note that read: “You should have stayed dead. Now I’m coming for you”, leaving both women stunned.

EastEnders viewers suspect that Anna Knight might be the culprit behind Cindy’s brutal assault. They noticed Anna’s peculiar behaviour upon Cindy’s return to the Square, including her suggestion that Cindy visit her mother and bring a gift.

On social media, fans shared their theories, with one speculating: “I definitely think it was Anna that hit Cindy she’s been so suss since the attack #EastEnders.”

Others echoed this sentiment: “Aɴɴᴀ ᴏʀ Kᴏᴊᴏ ᴏʙᴠɪᴏᴜsʟʏ ᴡʜᴀᴄᴋᴇᴅ ʜᴇʀ #EastEnders”, “Anna being the only person to show an interest in Cindy upon her return is very suspicious #EastEnders.”

One viewer observed: “Anna in #EastEnders has been moving different since Cindy’s attack. I still feel that she clobbered her Mum lol.”

While another suggested: “Starting to think it could be Anna or Gina, who attacked Cindy #EastEnders”.

EastEnders airs weekdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
