Emmerdale reveals a first look at villain’s d.e.a.t.h storyline
One character is about to be k.i.l.l.e.d off.
Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday’s episode (January 20), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.
The following article contains discussion of s.e.x.u.a.l misconduct.
Emmerdale has offered a first look at Anthony Fox’s mysterious d.e.a.t.h in a special flashforward.
The evil character is k.i.l.l.e.d off in suspicious circumstances this week, as Nicholas Day’s guest stint in the role comes to an end.
Monday’s episode offered viewers a first glimpse at Anthony’s grisly fate, starting and ending with flashforward scenes.
The opening scene ominously showed drops of b.l.o.o.d on the floor, while more detail was later revealed at the end of the episode as the camera panned to Anthony’s d.e.a.d body lying nearby.
Manipulative Anthony has tried to charm the villagers since moving to Emmerdale late last year, but the truth about his crimes is now starting to spread.
A recent Emmerdale flashback episode revealed that Anthony s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused his daughter Ruby when she was a teenager. He has since been revealed as the biological father of her daughter Steph.
Last week, Ruby’s husband Caleb and sister-in-law Chas both learned the truth.
Caleb was seen receiving delivery of a gun as he considered taking the law into his own hands over Anthony.
Chas, meanwhile, was haunted by reminders of her son Aaron’s traumatic past with his own father Gordon.
This week’s episodes see a gunshot ring out as Anthony’s crimes catch up with him and he’s later found dead by someone.
As well as Ruby, Caleb and Chas, Emmerdale chiefs have named Aaron, Cain, Nicola and Laurel as key suspects in the mystery.
Asked recently whether Ruby could be the culprit, Beth Cordingly – who plays the character – said: “Ruby did attack Ethan before when she felt he had done her son wrong. She effectively left him for d.e.a.d. She felt remorse afterwards, though, and a lot of guilt.”
Danny Miller, who plays Aaron, also said of his character’s motive: “Having experienced the same abuse and disgusting acts and never really got the justice he deserved or that Gordon deserved – the motive is there in plain sight.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
