ITV Emmerdale to air new love triangle after mix-up as fans ‘rumble’ sinister secret

Emmerdale viewers will be seeing a new love triangle next week, which lands one character in hot water.

Soap fans will recall that earlier this year, doctor Liam Cavanagh embarked on a short-lived romance with Chas Dingle, where he discovered a lump in her breast which led to a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer. Chas, who has since learnt she has the faulty BRCA2 gene and has encouraged her family to get tested, has since undergone a double mastectomy.

Meanwhile, following their fling, Liam has turned his attentions to new surgery receptionist Ella Forster with the two going on a date last week and even sharing a smooch outside The Woolpack before Ella suddenly had to dash off, leaving Liam a bit confused.

In upcoming scenes, following her surgery, Charity Dingle encourages Chas to lay everything on the line in her pursuit of Liam after their spark earlier this year.

However, in true soap style, Ella, who spots a tender moment between Liam and Chas, is also motivated to capture Liam’s heart, especially after Liam’s ex-wife Leyla Harding’s words of wisdom. Leyla tells Ella that Liam only has eyes for her after misinterpreting a conversation with him earlier.

Later, Chas and Liam are finally prepared to tell each other how they feel, before Ella intervenes in a very awkward love triangle. Following a kiss, Liam is powerless to resist Ella’s request that they become a couple and he finds himself agreeing. After the romantic milestone, Ella is elated while Liam is thrown to find himself committed to the wrong person.

Later, Liam explains the Ella and Chas mix-up to Leyla, who urges her ex-husband to go and get the right woman with no delay. After words of wisdom, Liam is ready to give it his all… will he get Chas and will Ella understand the very awkward mix-up?

It comes as fans think they have figured out a “sinister” Ella twist on the hit ITV soap. Viewers were left suspicious on Thursday’s episode after Liam jokingly asked if she knew anything about murders in an awkward moment while later, after their kiss and spotting Kerry Wyatt, Ella quickly jumped away from Liam and dashed off.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers are convinced that Ella is hiding something. One person said: “That means Ella win turn out to be a psycho then! #Emmerdale”, a different account put: “So what’s Ella’s dark secret #Emmerdale”, another wrote: “I have a feeling that the receptionist knows meena!” while a different account added: “Why do I get the feeling Ella has killed her husband or something… #emmerdale.”
