EastEnders featured a hilarious and recurring blunder involving Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) during a recent episode.

Jack has been in the thick of it lately, with his love triangle storyline involving his ex-wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish) struggling to choose between him and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).

But there was a big curveball last week when Jack hooked up with club owner Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) in the back room of Harry’s Barn.

It came after he got punched having stepped in to defend former stepdaughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) from some lecherous men drinking at the club.

The following day, he caught up with Denise and daughter Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) as Nicola listened in and soon revealed all about their passionate liaison.

However, during the scene, you might have noticed how an injury on Jack’s forehead from the night before kept disappearing and reappearing.

But fans will soon have more important things to worry about than Jack’s missing bruise when soap bosses hand them a huge responsibility for the 40th anniversary.

They will get the power to decide whether Denise chooses to be with Jack or Ravi, with the result played out during a special live episode during the celebrations next month.

Discussing the history-making moment, EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw said: ‘We’re all so excited to give our audience their first ever chance to decide how one of our big storylines plays out.

‘Their votes will determine whether Denise picks Jack or Ravi, with the outcome being revealed as part of our live episode. There is a lot to come over the next few weeks for all three involved, so it’ll be extremely exciting to see which way the audience choose to take the story!’

Details of how fans can vote will be announced in due course.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
