Emmerdale spoilers: Mandy Dingle and Paddy Kirk’s relationship to be saved by the person they’d least expect
Things were still rocky between Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) in Tuesday (March 26)’s visit to Emmerdale as Mandy just couldn’t get past the fact that Paddy had kissed his ex-wife Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and then lied about it afterwards.
After initially forgiving him when he immediately confessed to the kiss, it was discovering that Chas had broken off the kiss first rather than Paddy that sent Mandy’s feelings of insecurity and betrayal soaring.
A meeting in the Woolpack to try to sort things out in the previous episode had ended in chaos after Mandy decided to even things up by randomly snogging Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) – a move that shocked the GP every bit as much as it shocked Paddy.
And it hadn’t evened things out, she told Paddy. In fact she told him they were better off as mates. She recalled when he’d proposed to her when they were younger and how he’d seemed like her Prince Charming. ‘But we don’t get our happy ever after,’ she said sadly.
All of this is coming from the deep insecurity Mandy feels. Remember the incident at the vet’s ball when someone was being horrible to her and Paddy didn’t stick up for her then humiliated her in front of everybody?
There’s part of Mandy that feels that Paddy doesn’t think she’s good enough. Him kissing Chas just seemed to confirm that.
While Paddy was working Mandy offered to pick Eve (Bella James) up from nursery and drop her back home with Chas.
When she got to the Woolpack she found Chas trying to rest after her operation, but Caleb (William Ash) was also there insisting on being useful. Mandy swiftly kicked Caleb out and was about to leave herself when Chas pretended to be in pain so she would turn around and come back.
Chas had something she wanted to say. She talked about the kiss, and how it was just a case of Paddy getting ‘confused for a second.’ Chas was quite clear about how Paddy feels.
‘It’s you that he wants,’ she told Mandy. ‘You are the love of his life.’
Hopefully Chas’s words will be enough to convince Mandy that she needs to give Paddy another chance.
As Lisa Riley told us, ‘They do love each other – first, last and forever. Always. They always have been from the first time they got married. They have a special bond, they have an unbreakable bond.’
And, to the delight of the couple’s many fans, it looks like Mandy might get her happy ever after very soon.
