Passion rises as new EastEnders couple get it together amid trauma
After months of tip-toeing around each other, EastEnders’ Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) and Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) finally get it together next week.
However, their long-awaited union doesn’t come about in the best circumstances with the fallout from her mum Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) Christmas attack still tearing through her family.
The week begins with Anna remaining deeply suspicious of her sister Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) – a feeling that only intensifies when she witnesses her having another secretive chat with Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway).
With the hunt for Cindy’s attacker having already put other members of the Beale and Knight clans under the spotlight, Gina has to then defend herself when fingers are then pointed in her direction.
As accusations fly, dad George Knight (Colin Salmon) George steps in to defend his daughter, but a smug Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) later tells Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) that he plans to report Gina to the police.
As Anna reels from the turn of events, Freddie is there to support her.
Feeling comforted by him, the pair then finally give into their longstanding feelings for each other.
It has been a complicated path for Freddie and Anna, who first hooked up shortly after her arrival in Walford in 2023, amid his best friend Bobby Beale’s (Clay Milner Russell) crush on Anna.
Freddie was devastated to lose his best friend as a result of their one-night stand, and sought to push Anna and Bobby together, despite harbouring growing feelings for Anna himself.
Last year, Anna fell pregnant but kept the news secret from Bobby and decided to have a termination.
As Freddie stepped up to support her, things reached when they shared a secret kiss, only for Bobby to walk in on them.
After Bobby’s world imploded, he left Walford for a new life with stepmum Jane Beale (Laurie Brett), but until now, Freddie and Anna have remained just friends.
Will they now finally get their happy ever after?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 27 January at 7.30pm on BBC One, or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
