Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise actress Ginny Holder has hinted that a new detective will be joining the cast.
Ginny Holder, who stars as Darlene in the beloved BBC show Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, has given away a spoiler by hinting that a fresh face will be entering the scene.
Eager fans of the detective series have something thrilling to look forward to as the programme gears up for its highly-anticipated return, teasing viewers with hints that a “may be a new detective in town” doesn’t mean it won’t be “business as usual” on the sun-soaked Caribbean island.
As the excitement builds for the upcoming series, Ginny, the actress behind Darlene, has dished the dirt on what’s in store for her character.
She let slip: “Darlene loves her job, and she’s become quite obsessed with the crime board this series. She loves it. She likes to have things done in a certain way and loves going into detail with the case and the investigation.”

Adding fuel to the fire of excitement, the actress shared: “Her desk is always full and she’s always busy doing things. She’s a doer and it excites her, whether it’s going undercover or trying to find out who the killer is.”
Pressed for details on her most-liked case from the forthcoming set of episodes, Ginny teased fans, revealing: “There’s a great episode where Darlene gets to go undercover with a new officer.”
The curtain rises on the first episode on Friday, January 31, boasting an impressive lineup of guest stars from various hit shows, including Tobi Bakare known for Kingsman, Sex Education’s Patricia Allison, McDonald and Dodds’ star Tala Gouveia, and Emmerdale actor Simon Lennon.
The star-studded lineup for the show includes EastEnders ‘ Madeline Appiah and Judith Jacob, Coronation Street’s Bhavna Limbachia, and Wicked’s Adam James. Newcomer to Saint Marie, DI Mervin Wilson, portrayed by Don Gilet, is set to shake things up on the island, reports Wales Online.

A preview of what’s to come hints at a journey of discovery for Mervin, suggesting that Saint Marie might hold some unexpected secrets about his mother’s past.
The synopsis teases viewers with the possibility that as Mervin delves deeper, his world could be turned upside down. It reads: “As everything he thought he knew unravels, will his life ever be the same again?”
Don Gilet shared his feelings about taking on the new role, confessing a mix of excitement and nerves. He said: “I’m sure it won’t be a surprise to say that it was both exciting and terrifying in equal measure.”
He likened the experience to a daunting theme park ride, saying: “I liken it to one of those scary rides at a theme park. I’m going on it, and I know it’s going to be scary, but I’m going to do it. You’re daring yourself. Then you sit in the seat going, ‘What have I just let myself in for?!'”
