EastEnders revealed Gina Knight’s (Francesca Henry) jaw-dropping secret on Tuesday amid the hunt for Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) attacker.
There was an unexpected twist during the latest episode of the BBC soap when it was revealed who Gina had been with at the time of Cindy’s attack on Christmas night.
As fans know, Gina had been unmasked as the person who threw a brick through a window to intimidate Cindy following her release from hospital earlier this month.
While her family initially believed this meant she was also her mum’s attacker, Gina revealed to dad George Knight (Colin Salmon) that she’d discovered he’d lied about his own whereabouts on Christmas night.
He’d claimed to have been injured while participating in an illegal boxing match after Gina and Anna had found a bloodied shirt of his.
However, Gina confessed she later called the promoter, who said the venue had closed down.
Upon realising that George could be back in the frame for Cindy’s attack, she took matters into her own hands. By throwing the brick, she hoped to protect him by point the finger in the direction of the ominous Ford family, who previously forced Cindy into witness protection.
George then finally confessed to his daughter where he really was on Christmas night, but viewers were not privy to their conversation.
Later, Gina summoned Cindy to the Vic, where she apologised to her mum, but stopped short of revealing her true motivations.
With Cindy struggling to understand why Gina had intimidated her if she was not the one who attacked her, she pressed Gina to reveal the identity of the mystery man she spent the night with at Christmas.
Realising she had no choice but to admit the truth, Gina confirmed she’d actually hooked up with sister Anna Knight’s (Molly Rainford) love interest Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier).
And in true EastEnders fashion, Anna had overheard her bombshell admission, walking into the room having just slept with Freddie herself.
