Emmerdale star forced to leave after five months as actor addresses shock exit

Emmerdale viewers have said goodbye to yet another villager as Jai Sharma got his revenge on Amit Sharma after finding out the devastating truth about Rishi Sharma's death

Emmerdale have aired yet another shocking exit.

During Friday’s (March 29) episode of the ITV soap, fans saw the final scenes for Amit Sharma (Anil Goutam) as his son Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) took his revenge.

Jai was left furious earlier this week to have finally learned that Amit did push his brother Rishi down the stairs to his death last year. After an almost exact re-enactment of the staircase fall, Jai confronted his injured Amit over his actions.

Viewers were left wondering if Jai had killed his father but in dramatic scenes, fans saw him bound as gagged before Jai finally struck a deal before letting Amit leave the village forever – without saying goodbyes.

Amit Sharma has been forced to leave Emmerdale villageOpening up about the gripping storyline, Chris, who has played Jai since 2009, explained: “Jai has finally discovered the truth about Amit and I think this has brought out the dark side in him. He’s previously tried to suppress all his feelings and he listened to Laurel and Suni who said there was nothing to see hear. That Jai should move on and accept the death of his father and take Amit into his family.

“Well that has proved to be untrue. Amit is the villain that we suspected or that Jai suspected he was. Amit has been very devious and the pain that Jai suffered over the last eight months or so since Rishi’s death has now exploded. It is like a big fireball inside him and it’s all coming out in one go.

“And Amit is feeling the wrath of Jai’s pain. I think that for Jai it’s very simple now., He wants rid of Amit. He wants him out of his life he doesn’t want him anywhere near him. He wants the shares to the HOP – he wants his rightful inheritance that he should have got from Rishi.

“The fact that Rishi is no longer with him, means that Jai feels like he needs to avenge his death in some way and hurt Amit in someway. Jai is not a murderer deep down but I think he has been pushed to his limit here and he has let Amit away with his life. But it has changed something inside him and going forward the way he views life and people and relationships may well be affected, certainly the way he treats business will probably be affected too.

“I think he is going to become a bit more ruthless. He feels he has been taken for a bit of a fool and he feels like that is never going to happen again. So yes maybe bad Jai is back And do you know what I quite like bad Jai. He’s fun to play. But he’s not all bad though, he’s a good dad and he has some redeeming qualities but we have seen him go down this path before – so who knows what lies ahead.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
