Tyler Perry’s Sistas | Did Zac Make A Mistake By Telling Agent Watt About His Murder Suspect Board?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—I’m all for shipping Zach and Fatima, but I have to agree with the majority on this one. Instead of constantly chastising Zach, I really wish Fatima would take a step back and see things from his perspective. One of the things I didn’t care for in Episode 16 was how Zach had to endure yet another earful from Fatima.
Zach should have known better, sure, but Fatima acted as if he completely botched their situation. She was upset that he talked to Agent Watt about their investigation into who stabbed Gary. Now, they have only 24 hours before both of them face possible arrest. And I was sitting there thinking, “Really?” Even worse, Fatima’s frustration led her to say, “Look, I got it.” But if that were truly the case, why not let Zach handle it in his own way?
This whole scenario felt like déjà vu. I tried to piece together the timeline—Season 3 of Zatima was filmed in June/July 2024, and Sistas Season 8 was filmed not long after that. I don’t know if there was coordination between the writers’ rooms, but it certainly felt like we were revisiting old conflicts. I was rolling my eyes because this is exactly why I disliked Zatima Season 3. Zach was being scolded for simply trying to protect the people he loves.
Unlike past situations, Zach wasn’t acting out of some ulterior motive. He wasn’t being reckless. Yes, he beat up his brother—not just because of what happened to Fatima but also because of how Jeremiah made his life a living hell. That was personal. But when it came to revealing the suspect board to Agent Watt, Zach wasn’t trying to be sneaky. From my perspective, Zach did what he needed to do. Fatima claimed she had everything under control, and I do believe she was handling things well, but at some point, Watt was bound to find something incriminating.
Agent Watt wasn’t going anywhere. He would have badgered them until he found a reason to drag them downtown. And realistically, how long was it going to take before he noticed the murder board in the corner? Zach’s decision to reveal it bought them 24 hours—precious time to strategize rather than be blindsided by an immediate arrest.
You could argue both perspectives, but I didn’t appreciate how the writers continued to make Zach look incompetent. First, he accidentally revealed Fatima’s pregnancy to Karen. Now, he’s supposedly “dumb” for telling Watt about the murder board. But I disagree. I think Zach made the best possible decision in a tough situation. Watt was looking for any excuse to take them in. If Zach or Fatima were truly guilty, would they really be putting in more effort than the feds to find out who stabbed Gary?
Agent Watt’s 24-hour ultimatum seemed more like a scare tactic than an actual deadline. And let’s be honest—everyone in this show is under some kind of pressure. Marie gave Andy a week to get back to work or risk ruining her reputation. Zach and Fatima have 24 hours to solve the case or face arrest. Sabrina has only a few days to decide whether to freeze her eggs before losing her investment. Karen and Pam need to finalize their business plan by the end of the week. Danny is the only one without a ticking clock—though HR is investigating Tony for favoritism, so her situation remains uncertain.
At the end of the day, I don’t think Zach deserved to be scolded the way he was. And Fatima wasting time at that so-called sister circle didn’t help matters at all. Next week, it looks like things will ramp up with the Hayden and Tamara storyline for Zach and Fatima’s sake, but overall, the writing choices this season have been frustrating.
I really wish the writers didn’t turn Zach into a goofball. But what do you think? Was Zach wrong to show Agent Watt the murder board, or did he make the right call? Let’s discuss in the comments, and I’ll catch you all in the next upload!
