Emmerdale fans work out what really happened to Amit – and he’s ‘not dead’

Emmerdale's Jai Sharma took revenge against his biological father Amit after discovering the truth about the death of Rishi Sharma, the man he believed to be his dad

Emmerdale's Amit

Emmerdale fans have worked out Amit’s fate and Jai Sharma may not have killed him.

Thursday’s double-bill saw Jai snap after finding out the truth about his biological father and criminal dealings. This week, Jai realised his father was up to no good after spotting him hand over the HOP’s takings to a loanshark before pretending he’d been mugged.

Jai turned to Eric Pollard, who was also suspicious of Amit, and offered to team up with him to prove that his biological father was to blame for Rishi’s death last year. On Thursday, Jai confronted Amit about his theories and it soon became clear that the suspicious character felt no remorse for harming his brother.

As Amit tried to explain his shady behaviour, Jai warned: “You can drop the act. I know everything.” Amit admitted he didn’t have the money to buy into the HOP but wanted to do it so he could have a family business with his sons.

Amit confessed to planning to trick Gabby Thomas out of her share of the business so he could then use the HOPs finances to pay off his debts. The conversation quickly turned to Rishi’s death with Amit admitting he was to blame.

Jai snapped and pushed Amit down the stairs leaving him in a pool of blood just as Eric turned up. Jai revealed he had recorded Amit’s confession and would take it to the police to get justice for the man who raised him as his son.

“It’s going to be my word against his, and it’s not like you saw anything, right?” he asked Eric who agreed to keep quiet and wait for Jai to force Amit to confess to the police. However, ITV viewers later saw Jai clean up blood all over the walls suggesting he had killed his biological father.

Fans of the ITV soap predict a further twist in the tale and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to theorise that Amit may not be dead after all. One tweeted: “Has Jai killed Amit or has he got him stashed away somewhere or taken him to hospital as we don’t know what he’s done with the body …. #Emmerdale @emmerdale.”

Another wrote: “He’s tied Amit up to make it look like it was the loan shark and threatened him to tell the police that or he’s going to hand his confession in to the police. Which he’ll do anyway #Emmerdale.”

Speaking ahead of the chilling scenes, Jai star Chris Bisson confirmed “bad Jai” would be returning to the Dales. He revealed: “He can be quite nasty. He’s got a bit of a track record. I’ve locked people in shipping containers before. I’ve done all sorts before.”

“The character is always evolving and it’s always exciting and then we get the big set pieces where the stories climax. You get the stunts and all that sort of stuff going on,” he added.
